Hi all,
I recently got invited to Rice’s VISION fly in program, but when I checked my portal I realized that I had sent in my SAT Biology Subject test. I did extremely poorly (560/800) on this exam as I took it before I took AP biology (forced by parents) and ended up never taking it again. My majors of choice in order are Pre-Health, Chemistry, and Biochemistry. I feel like because this subject test got sent I’m hella screwed. Is there any way I can have them ignore it or explain circumstances regarding the exam? I did decent on my SAT (1500) and ACT (34) which I both sent in and really don’t want this one subject test to ruin my chances of getting in. Is there anything I can do/should do?!
Thanks in advance,
yung zaku
I am sure if Rice invited you to Vision they are very interested in you. Are you planning to go? I doubt the one test score will disqualify you if your application Is otherwise strong. Did you send any other subject tests or is that the only one? You could send an email to your regional admissions officer explaining the circumstances and/or stop by admissions while you are at Vision and speak to your rep personally.
Thanks for the response! I am 100% planning to go to Vision and sadly did not take any other subject tests. I think I’ll talk to admissions when I go to Rice for Vision. Thanks so much for the advice.
Rice doesn’t come right out and confirm it but it’s thought that an invite to Vision is pretty much a “likely” admission. So you should definitely attend Vision.
Don’t sweat the explanation for your low SAT subject test score - explain if you think you must but keep it brief and accept responsibility, not make excuses.
Enjoy your visit.
