Am I screwed??

So basically, I already submitted my apps for UC and at the end it said that I needed 1 more of the a-g requirements.
I know it was from getting a D in AP Euro my sophomore year.

The thing is, my counselors never even brought up the fact that UCs don’t accept D or F grades for the a-g requirements and so I never even knew I had to retake a year of history.

In my application, I wrote an essay in which I explained that in my sophomore year, the year I received the D in AP Euro, I was going through emotional problems and even went to see a psychologist; then I explained how my educational motivation was shattered and I had recovered from what I was going through, which I wont say because it is very personal.

Then I realized that I did not mention in the additional comments section that I was not offered the chance to retake the class, which was a huge mistake on my part.

My sophomore year was my worst year in terms of GPA, I got a borderline 3.0 weighted and got D in AP Euro 1st semester and C 2nd semester; D in both semesters of Integrated math II advanced; which I took summer school for so I dont have to worry about a-g math, and even some Cs. I explained in one of my Personal Insight Questions the reason for this low level of achievement, but did not mention why I did not retake sophomore history.

I just want to know how UCs will interpret this and if I have ZERO chance of getting in or even a sliver of hope.

You as an applicant are responsible for knowing the course requirements for each school in which you are applying and cannot rely solely on your counselor as you have found out.

If you are missing a social science/ history requirement, below is what you can do to fulfill it by end of Senior year. You will need to notify the UC’s of any schedule change. If you do not meet all the a-g requirements by end of Senior year, your admission will be rescinded. Since you did not list that you plan to retake the AP class or give an “in-progress” alternative, your application will be rejected so make sure you contact them immediately with an option to meet the requirement.
