i was just looking over my common app which i already sent in to Occidental and i realized i made the biggest of all mistakes! i used the same essay i wrote for USD for my common app and by mistake I put USD instead of Oxy in my essay!!! WHAT DO I DO??? will this pretty much take away any chance i had at Oxy??

<p>I'm sorry you made this classic and tragic mistake. I've seen officers say they really hate it. I don't think it will disqualify you though. What I would do. Tell them you sent the wrong essay in error. Ask them to please substitute the actual OXY essay. Then send them an entirely different essay. Don't just correct the old one and substitute Oxy for USD, that would be insulting.</p>

<p>Yes they are, but if you are so dumb as not to check that you sent the right name to the right school, I'm suggesting a way for you not to look so stupid. If you think that Oxy is interchangable with USD, that will look lame.You can feel free to ignore the advice.</p>

I realize my mistake, and trusted that my College COunselor would catch any mistakes on my application but apparently she did not. anyways, Thanks people for the feedback. <p>This takes me back to our college tour with our D. In the info session at Harvard the presenter went to great lengths to point out that spell check and grammar check will correct a great number of errors but the computer will not prevent you from sending an essay to Harvard about how you've always wanted to go to Brown. Then he said,"but we let her in anyway."</p>
<p>wow! you have college counselors that review your apps??????? wow! anway, i can see how you could mix the names of colleges by using common app online. i dont like online apps... i avoid using college names in essays, still i think you will be okay. You are human.</p>
