am i screwed?

I had a pretty good 3 years of high school, I got was in the top 20% of my class, 1450/1600 on my SAT and a letter of assurance from the service academy of my choice. Now, approaching my midterms I am failing AP Calc and I have a D in AP French. I am doing ok in 3 other AP classes, but will my admissions be rescinded if I get a single F+ and can a flagship state school accept me with F+?

You might have slight problems, unfortunately. Many schools give no credit for Fs, sometimes even Ds don’t get credit.

However, if it’s not a class you need for an actually requirement/prerequisite for the school, it shouldn’t be a problem in that sense. It depends on the competition to get into the school. What state are you talking about. I mean, if you were talking about CA, no, I wouldn’t get in. However, a lot of other schools public system is easier to be accepted into.

Good luck!

oddly enough, i checked the mail today and i got into my state school! my grades are still really bad right now, i guess my question now is do i have to bring them up by midyear or by finals to avoid being rescinded?

well thats a simple question:

WORK.

Whats an F+. Failing is failing and you wont get credit for the class. At my school the lowest you can go and still pass is a D.

I doubt you’ll make an academy with an F without being an athlete.

Even being an athlete you are required to maintain grades…ya they might take easier classes but they still maintain Cs. Or at least thats how it is at my school

you need to rock your final…typically it is pretty difficult to explain a failing grade to an academy/selective institution.

I didn’t even know they gave out F+'s? I thought an F was an F?
I’m not sure…you’ll for sure want to pull your grade up because having an “F+” and a D may not get you rescinded (I honestly don’t know) but the institution REALLY won’t like that, and you probably will have a higher chance of getting rescinded (even if it is a tough class like AP Calc or French) or there will be some sort of “punishment” later on…
then again I could be way off…
