I’m a little freaked out about my standardized test scores. Just some general background info about myself. . .

My biggest concern comes down to my ACT score. Clearly, I’m MUCH more talented when it comes to English/Reading (I’m interested in pursuing Polisci or Lit). How much do you think my ACT score will hurt me?

the ACT score is only a small part of your application. College will evaluate you in the totality…your talents, grade, Ec’s, personality, and more importantly ESSAYS. Don’t worry about the ACTs write good essays.

You could take the SAT and try to score something like 750+CR, 600+Math, 750+Writing.

You should know your ACT composite is the only thing standing in your way to Amherst and other top colleges. Considering what a great student you are, you should study for the ACT/SAT as if it were another exam. Take practice tests and review the answers to the questions you answered incorrectly. Understand what the right answers and are and why they are right. You should be fine if you study more.

Don’t worry about your ACT, seriously. I’m sort of in the same boat as you, except my ACT is a little better. I however, only have like 3 ECs and 2 AP classes (because that’s about all my school offers). I applied through Questbridge and just got my acceptance letter today.

Personal-
Race:Asian/Caucasion/Native American

Stats-

What worked in my favor was my essays. I let them know that I have a lot of potential, am serious about my studies, and am eager to be more active in my community. I am sure you’ll be fine as long as you communicate yourself in a way that makes them understand YOU. Best of luck to you. I hope to be seeing you at college :)
