One difference that I've noticed between my freshman applications and transfer applications is that most colleges seem to ask less of transfer applicants. There isn't much space to write creative essays, showcase portfolios, etc. I'm currently a neurobiology and studio art major at UVM hoping to transfer to Pitt and I REALLY want to get in. I think my stats are decent, but I just want a solid application to really maximize my chances. So, here's what I have to offer Pitt in my application:
- "Why Pitt?" transfer essay (mandatory)
- student activities resume (optional)
- writing sample about a topic that interests me (optional)
- art portfolio demonstrating a wide variety of art (optional)

The only thing they really ask for is the essay, although they do say that the writing sample or portfolio may be added. I feel like the resume should definitely be added, but I'm not sure about the writing sample and art portfolio. Should I do both, either/or, or neither? Will adding too much material hurt me in any way?
