Am I still considered a "advanced student"?

I attend school in California and currently a junior in high school. The past two years I have taken “regular classes”, where they are not weighted.
This year I took AP English Lang. And honors United States history (this is my first year taking weighted classes)

Freshman year I received 4.0 gpa with one C in earth science my first semester

Sophomore year I received 4.0 gpa in both semesters

My first semester of my junior year I received a 3.8 unweighted gpa due to my B grade in honors U.S. history

Currently I have 4.0 unweighted gpa and 4.3 weighted and plan to end the second semester with these grades, possible another B in regular chemistry or history

Next year I plan on taking only two more AP classes and the rest regular. My worry is that I did not take enough weighted classes to get into my desired college (a private college in Utah) and was wondering if I still have a pretty good chance in getting in, even with majority of regular classes and only 3 total AP’s throughout my high school career

What college do you want to get in to? There’s no way to know if you’re a typical applicant at an unknown college.

The only private colleges I can find in Utah are BYU and Westminster. If it’s Westminster, I wouldn’t worry about it. If it’s BYU, they do look at the rigor of your secondary school record. I would try to take as many AP’s as you are able. Try to score well on the SAT/ACT - BYU’s averages aren’t off the charts, so you can improve your application that way.
