so my mom drove me to the doctor and they gave me a iq test. they told me to do it. so i did do it. the end result, i got an 89 IQ score on the test. i’m only 9th grader, so yea. is that pretty good for a 9th grader or not? my mom didn’t like the score. but i dont trust my mom so tell me plz. and i dont know what i want to be when i grow up
A 89 is actually pretty low, also im pretty sure that they take age into account too. 2/3 of the population falls under 85 to 115. But I mean IQ tests aren’t really a reliable source of measuring intelligence
If it was too math heavy and you don’t like math it might not have been a very fair test.
Um yeah that’s a very low score… sorry… if you tell us a bit about yourself/your academics maybe we can tell you if your score seems to be right.
You said that you don’t trust your mom. Did you really do your best on the test? Maybe go in with a preconceived idea about it? It’s a test, and tests can be gamed.
89 is low average. On an earlier thread you say you have a 4.0 in ninth grade. I doubt that IQ test is accurate. If you are performing well in school the test is irrelevant. I know when I was privately tested in middle school they would not tell me the score. Is it possible your mother is playing a cruel joke on you? On earlier threads you were considering Stanford and Emory. Maybe she thinks you aren’t working to your potential and the “lower I.Q.” will make you want to prove everyone wrong.
Don’t listen to the poster above ^^^^
As @17Angel said, IQ tests aren’t really a reliable way of measuring intelligence
Really? What body of work are you basing that statement on?
There is a reason the tests are employed.
What you may be thinking about is whether or not IQ can predict success.
Try taking the raven test, it’s completely dofferent than the IQ test. They are also sorta entertaining/frusterating/intriguing.
Something like this:
And, btw, does it really matter what your IQ is? It doesn’t take into account work ethic, goals, life circumstances, etc. Don’t let that number hurt you, it’s only a number
What kind of dr, and what concerns does your mum have in order to take you to a dr and have a supposed IQ
test? Have you had any standardised testing results? ACT explore?
IQ Tests are used to test IQ. The score might be affected if you were tired, but the tests are curved, so if you were ok, then your IQ stands. Also Academics DON’T tell IQ. Have you ever seen a school saying that it can definitely tell IQ? No, because academics aren’t designed to tell IQ. School is rote memorization, which is not IQ. IQ is how quickly you think, which is different from rote memorization. But like post #8, does this IQ really define you? Also, your brain is still developing, so your IQ might change. Your brain develops until you’re 20 and in the teenage years it develops the most. Don’t get too worked up over these results. Remember, your brain isn’t static, it’s still developing.
What kind of IQ test was is? Stanford Binet? WISC? IQ tests don’t define you. I have an IQ of 140 but my gpa is only a 3.6, while my friends with IQ’s with 128,130,etc have 4.0’s.
There was once a man with a 130 iq and won a Nobel physics prize.
Richard Feynman, Theoretical Physics (1918-1988)
MIT, B.S. (1939)
Princeton, PhD (1942)
His IQ as tested in grade school was 123.
If you think you have a high IQ, do something with it before you start polishing it and admiring it.
thx guys
Although proper grammar wouldn’t hurt.
