Am I that lucky?

So you know with colleges that'll send you free stuff if you score above a certain PSAT score . I have never received one before. Is it just luck I haven't been bombarded with them yet or did I really do that bad? (Haven't received my scores yet so nervous)

I don’t think you can determine anything about your scores from this. Getting junk mail doesn’t make anyone special…colleges have no problem with underqualified applicants.

Sorry just freaking out a bit. If I don’t get above 220 it’s off to bootcamp with me

A 220 on the PSAT is insane, lol. Kids who got NMS semi finalist status at my school had like … a 204.

The bombardment starts around the new year. And besides, like everyone at or above the 75th percentile or above gets more than enough junk mail, so if you’re sure that you’re 220-ish material, you’ll definitely get more glossy paper than you’ve ever wanted.

I hate to say it, but you may want to start packing for boot camp, hah. I was a semifinalist and I barely got above 200.
That said, while junk mail can definitely be an indicator, a lack of it certainly doesn’t mean that you did badly! Like nhdmaniac said, as well, you’re sure to be bombarded with it soon enough.

Remember that the cutoff depends on what state you live in…

While that’s true, I’ve only known one or two people to score a 220 or above.
Most cutoffs are below that level.

I got a 220 and I wasn’t a SF :frowning: (connecticut, missed it by a point)

I hope this isn’t a reliable indicator of a high score (I haven’t gotten college mail recently- granted I already have a stack that’s about 8 in high, but still.) I haven’t received my score yet and it’s making me nervous.

I don’t think it’s your scores… I’m pretty sure before you take the PSAT there is a section for you to put your information down so colleges can contact you.

The emails have nothing to do with scores. If you provided your email at the bottom of your answer sheet, you’ll get em starting a couple of weeks after you get your scores back.

I bombed the PSAT (well, not bombed, per se, but a 190 isn’t too spectacular) - and the college mail has not relented in the past three years.
