sorry to be rude, but i find it unfair, i knew cornell wanted apps to be sent, so i finished as the first thing, but now, like 10h b4 deadline, they change? I am sorry, but i find this unfair to all students who had put Cornell first and sent in their apps :')

The lesson? Procrastination pays off.

yeah, I also think its not very fair to extend the deadline on the last day...have they even given a reason for this extension??

EDIT: just found out that it was becuase Jan 1 is a holiday and some people didn't plan to mail their essays in on friday. I don't think they should admit anyone who didn't realize that...

I wish it hadn't been extended too, but lets face it, I think we all know that even if it hadn't been extended Cornell probably would have accepted apps that came in a few days late (as will many other schools.)

But I wish all of those smarty pants procrastinators had been knocked off the competition list!! :)

OH WELL Life's not fair!

Do you really think this extra 10 days is going to make your application better? If so, why don't you try and resend it or something?

Yeah, but aren't post offices always closed on the first of January? I just think it's stupid.

Yeah, I was just thinking that. Jan 1st is ALWAYS a holiday. Do they usually extend deadlines but tell everyone that it's Jan 1st first so that once they do extend it, everyone gets really happy and loves Cornell?

Someone told me it got extended last yr...maybe Cornell just wants to mess with everyone's heads, yet another reason why we're a match made in Heaven!!!!! :)

How can you say it is unfair? If you were in the situation that those who would have missed the deadline were in, you would not have said that. The admissions office is being really nice, if anything it's indicative of how well Cornell treats their students!

angelnikki1, i think you shold be RESPONSIBLE enough to not be in the situation. also, think about people who had to give up their Christmas for the application. is it fair to treat those people who are responsible and gave up their fun and those people who are irresponsible the same? i'd love to hear anyone's rebuttal on this.

this is not fair - I worked my ass hard to make it on friday and now I read that they extended deadline, why?

Well, I know I'm part of the ED group, but I felt like commenting anyway. I think that if you really wanted to go to Cornell, you would have had the app done by the due date. If you are applying RD, you've obviously had to fill out other applications. If Cornell was the last one that you're completing, then it's obviously not first choice.

But then again, not everyone knows what his or her first-choice school is immediately. And life isn't fair. Okay, now I'm just rambling.

OMG...i am sooooooooooooo mad...this is so unfair...at least they could have given like a 2 days notice....they know people will mail out dec 31 since jan 1 post offices aren't open. I mean BU also extended their deadline but at least they gave a 4 day notice or something like that. :( I'm not getting in...can't wait for rejection.

Where does it say that the deadline has been extended? and what other schools have pushed their deadlines back? This is incredibly frustrating because I busted my ass this entire vacation to finish all of my apps... ON TIME... any1 who submits later than January 1 doesn't deserve to be admitted... its harsh, but its the truth... Cornell should at least review the applications in the order they are submitted... people who submit on time should have FIRST PRIORITY...

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH U!!! Jan 1st and before-deserve first priority! Who also agrees?

here here!

I agree! Not that my opinion counts for much lol

omg what the heck.. i just submitted mine!

who knows, they might create two sets of application; ones before 1/1 and ones afterward

p.s : i sent my application 5 min before the post office closes. and i believe with ten days i might be able to improve my essays. darn :P

First of all everyone stop whining who "worked so hard to get their applications done by 1/1" because there are MANY people who probably worked just as hard to get theirs done by Dec 1st or whatever their school's deadline was. I personally think it's kind of unfortunate that they extended it, but guess what: that's life and we can't change it.

Moral of the story: Cry me a river, then build a bridge, and GET OVER IT! :)
