Am I the only one who felt the ACT English was completely overwhelming?

I have never taken the ACT before. I didn't really know what to expect and had only done a few review guides prior to the test but no real practice problems. I had no idea the English section was SSOOOO long. I took SAT classes over the summer and consistently scored 700-780 on the critical reading and never had trouble and found the tests collegboard provided easy. When I took the ACT I noticed that the questions seemed to flow with the story, I assume you are supposed to answer as you read. My proctor called 5 minutes when I had about 10 questions left. I went into full panic mode and skimmed the rest and guessed.

I guess I am too used to being able to spend time on each question like on the SAT, I felt that the other 3 sections were a lot easier than the english, it was almost strange how much so. I actually got excited at the end of the science because I got to use some of my AP Chem knowledge!!!

If I take it again I will definitely do some practice tests, any suggestions? Also, did anyone else have a similar experience?

I actually meant I panicked through 10 questions near the end of the 5 minutes. I actually had something more like 16-17 left.

Do you mean the 1st section or the Reading (3rd section)

It was the first one, 75 questions, 45 minutes. I thought the third was much easier.

Oh wow, many people thought that the third was much harder and the 1st was similar to the Red Book. It really depends on your strengths and weaknesses

My best subjects on the act in order are english, math, science, reading
For this test, i thought english was really easy, math was ok, reading was very difficult, and science was very difficult. It depends on what you’re good at. I probably got
-0 english
-1 math
-8 reading (normally i miss 6/7)
-8 science (normally i miss 3/4)
