I am a Senior in high school. (I tend to procrastinate). Do you guys think any of these schools will accept me. Advise and insight into the admissions process is greatly valued. Thank-you

^^^^^I have letters of verification/recommendations from all these places, and will send it in with my application.

I understand I don’t really stand out much from the thousands of applicants trying to get admissions to these top schools. However, for my essays, I have been working on them, rewriting, and editing with private tutor for the past month.

What are my chances of any of the schools that I am applying to, Am I too ambitious? Should I make my list smaller…(My parents and I are planning on applying everywhere and seeing where I can get in)

I am South Asian, and live in Florida…

Any chances for any of these schools is also greatly appreciated. Thank-you for your time…

Most important application factors will be your essays (such as “Why Georgetown?”) and your teacher recs. Your SAT I scores are strong 1470/1600.

^^^^ Thanks Coldwind…

You have no safety school, unless I’m missing something…with a 20% rank, even in a “so-called” competitive HS, you need a safety…

and Utex@Austin is not IMO a safety OOS…not sure about Texas A &M

Very impresive stats…
but definitly apply somewhere as a DEFININITE safety
like what Rodney said, UTex is not a very good safety…
b/c w/ college admissions… you never know what could happen :S

Texas A and M is my safety…if you are in the top quarter of your class and have a 1300 reading and math, you automatically get accepted…

^even OOS? are you sure that’s not an in-state guarantee? If it is OOS, you are all set…

Okay fine…I am from Texas…I just said Florida that so I didn’t give out my real residence…

haha…ok…you’re fine…good luck!!! I didn’t mean to make you “come out”!!..Sorry!!

^^^^^^I don’t want to tell people in a forum my real state of residence… Chances for any of the schools is also greatly appreciated…

Hahahaha! “Come out”

That was funny. I agree with the last sentence of post 7 and all of post 2.

no you will definitely get into Texas A&M

what is your prospective major ? It seems like u will go to med or social studies ?
although u have impressive stats, u shouldn’t waste money and energy applying to so many schools. from #1-13, besides Ivies, colleges are relatively the same and competitive. just look for those that have strong major u are looking for.

I don’t mean to be a stickler here, but it seems like you just picked some top schools of the list and decided to apply to a bunch hoping that one would accept you. I’m sure that you will get into at least one of these non-safties, but if I were you, I would just make sure that I would actually want to go to all of these schools before spending all of this money applying. Not to say that you won’t be happy regardless of where you end up, but just think about it.

otherwise your stats are impressive, good luck

I just want to see where I get in, because I don’t know my options…I think that once I get accepted I know where I can go, and from those schools pick the one I like the best…

^^^^^^Should I do that, or approach my college application process in another way, please help me

I want to major in Economics and still do Pre-Med…

^^^^^^I made this list, so I can apply to schools if I don’t get into Rice Early Decision, which I doubt I can do…

University of Pennsylvania - Reach

Columbia University - Reach

Duke - Reach

Stanford - Reach

Northwestern - Lower Reach

Dartmouth - Reach (Maybe a bit lower? I’m not too familiar with them)
7.Brown - Reach

Cornell - Lower reach

Vanderbilt -Lower Reach

Emory - Not sure

Rice(ED) - Low Reach

Washington University St. Louis - Low Reach

Georgetown - Not familiar

University of Texas Austin------Safety

Texas A and M University------Safety

The reason I put reach for so many of your schools is your class rank. 89/451 is not great. I would put my money on you getting into at least one of your reaches though, so stay the course. Good luck!

Thanks for chancing me by the way :)

Definite ORM, but I don’t know how the Ivies see that.

University of Pennsylvania - Crapshoot

Columbia University - Crapshoot

Duke - Crapshoot

Stanford - Crapshoot

Northwestern - Reach

Dartmouth - High Reach
7.Brown - High Reach

Cornell - Reach?

Vanderbilt -No idea.

Emory - No idea.

Rice(ED) - Low reach/reach (don’t know anything about Rice’s ED policy or anything in particular about that system)

Washington University St. Louis - High match/low reach

Georgetown - High reach

University of Texas Austin - never heard of this school.

Texas A and M University - high match/low reach

I’d agree with reozdowy; you should have a decent chance on getting into at least a couple of the 15, but again, better safe than sorry. It’s a pretty long list, though, so I guess that’s up to you.

^^^^^^I am confused, Texas A and M is a high match/ low reach… What does that mean…I have no idea what high match/low reach/reach/high reach/low match and all that mean…

I think I am guarented a spot at Texas A and M because I am instate, and in the top quarter with a 1300+ sat score…I could be wrong, I don’t know…

Any other thoughts will be helpful…

Too many reaches. Your class rank will make ALL the Ivies very difficult. I would add more schools in the Emory range and lower.
