am I too late for college??

hi all
I am going to be in college next year ,class of 2014>>at 01/19/2014 I will be exactly 20 years old.
I feel like I am way too old for the freshman year, what do you think??
this late is due to the high school ,here in Syria we have the Baccalaureate exam in order to graduate from high school ,so I had to take this exam 3 times and you can do the exam once a year>>>so basically it took me 5 years to graduate from high school.

what do you think guys ?? and what was your age when you went to college??

You’re not too old. No one will know the difference. Go to school! :-D

I’ll be 21 this year and I’m still considered a freshman.

I’m 30 and only finishing my freshman year this spring

You’re only 2 years older than the average college freshman. That is far from “too old.”

thanks guys , it really disturbs me because I have to be in my sophomore year now.

@jgoddensa:
what’s your major??

By that logic I should have my phd by now! I’m undecided still :)

I’m 32 and going back. Couldn’t decide what I wanted to do when I started college so I joined the military.

You will see students of all ages and backgrounds eventually.

I met my husband in college - I was 22 and he was 30. I also had a friend who I met when I was 18 and he was 28. No biggie! We knew a student who was close to 50, even. He ended up getting his PhD and becoming a professor!

I went to a trade school at 19 (Pharmacy Tech) end up having 3 kids… I find myself back in CC at 23 … Now I’m 25 with 60 something credits getting ready to transfer for Petroleum Engineering.

It’s never too late, some of those young 18-19 straight out of high school kids can’t even decide on their major. End up switching major or whatever.

Or end up majoring in something that doesn’t even land them a job. My friend since 5th grade graduated from our HS in top 10% in 2006 full, tuition to College … majored in Business (2010) but work at Dish Network installing … non related to his degree

Nope, I’m 22 hoping to transfer to LSU next fall. People typically do it at a younger age to get it out the way and start making decent money (hopefully). In my case, it took me 2121 years to finally figure out what I wanted to do with my life.

I’m 22 and started college this spring so you are not too old.

Haha, sorry had to laugh when I saw that  im 25 and going back. 20 is definitely not too young

I’m thirty and have 1.5 years before I get my BS.
