I haven't filled up the common app. I haven't requested recommendation letters. My SAT is on Oct 11. My half yearly school exams are starting 1 Oct and finishing 15th Oct.

As you can see, I am completely stressed and overloaded because of both tests happening at the same time.

I am thinking of postponding common app and recom letter etc. until after 15th Oct so that I can concentrate on getting good marks. Deadline for ED is Nov 1.

Do you think its a good idea? Or should I start working on my admission application right now and sacrifice the time spent studying?

Wait, you’re apply ED? Yes, you are running very late. You need to start NOW. You need to ask for recs ASAP because many teachers have caps. Even now, it is pretty unprofessional to ask for recs for ED because that deadline is just over a month away. Teachers should have at least a month and a half lead time- and that’s cutting it close. If you wait until Oct 15th, no teacher will write you a rec on that short a notice.

Nonsense, the professional teachers ought to know that the students are not professionals, are stressed out and overloaded. ED schools will accept recommendations and transcripts a little late.

Relax, breathe, don’t let the previous poster intimidate you. Nobody should be making you feel like crap.

You do need to immediately request the recommendation letters, arrange for your transcript to be sent, and have your test scores sent to the schools you will apply to by Nov 1. That shouldn’t take too much time away from studying.

The hard work - filling out the application essays - can wait until you finish with your exams. Good luck.

@ClassicRockerDad sorry, that came out harsher than I meant it to. I wanted to emphasize the importance of asking for recs immediately, but went a little too far.

I meant you needed to start with the process overall now- the app itself can wait. What I meant by “unprofessional” is you need to realize that this is putting them in a spot where they might not have the amount of time needed to write a glowing rec. If you approach them politely, it will not affect your relationship with them.

I am not going down the professional/unprofessional road. But you are where you are and all you can do is immediately ask for the letters. If they can do it then fine. If not, then take the lesson that you can’t wait to get things done.
