Am I unrealistic?

I am a Hispanic female attending an International School overseas. I have lived in two different countries and speak 2 languages. I left the US after 6th Grade.

My SAT is 2150

I take the FUll IB with a 6.5 out of 7 GPA - with my highs in Chem, Bio, and Business.

I play two varsity sports each year.

I have been on a 2 week service project to Africa and a one week service project to Romania.

I have traveled the world and been on every continent except Antartica and South America.

My dream schools are UVA, UNC, Stanford and Harvard.

Do I have a shot?

UVA and UNC look good, but UNC may be a reach because youre out of state. Stanford and Harvard are high reaches because you don’t have a hook and your SATs aren’t stellar. Traveling extensively won’t help you if you haven’t made anything out of it. And did you have to pay for the international service projects? Yes, theyre cool experiences, but they don’t help if they alienate those who cannot afford them…

Chance back?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/804723-chances-ed-dartmouth.html

Isn’t URM a hook?

Also I have been told International Schools (especially the IB program) do not teach to the SAT…anyone else heard this? Supposedly kids from Intl schools SAT’s tend to be a bit lower than those kids in the US with AP courses. Different ways of thinking.

THe only reason I am really considering Harvard is because they sent me an app, and have sent me numerous emails (including from the Minority recruitment Dept) encouraging me to apply.

THoughts?

oh I forgot… the cost for the ROmania trip was minimal. It was through a group on campus and we took a bus to Romania from here that took 24 hours each way.

THe Africa trip is a year long commitment leading up to the trip over my Spring Break involving extensive fundraising to pay for the trip.
