Am I wasting my time holding out for admission?

Right now I attend the University Of Arizona. I've always wanted to go to USC.... ever since I was a young child and went to my cousins graduation there when I was about 8. Unfotunetely in high school I lacked the maturity and forsight to appreciate my education and consequently did not do well enough to even bother applying to USC. I'm extremely passionate behind my reasons to go to USC.... so much so to the point where I won't bother writing down the 6-7 pages of why I want to attend it.

Anyways... this is one of those "what are my chances?" threads.

Current Year: Freshmen
School: University Of Arizona
Completed Units: 15 (20 including 5 units at a CC my junior year of high school)
GPA: 4.0
Spring 2008 Units: 12
Spring 2008 Projected GPA: 3.75/4.00
Extra Curricular: Entrepreneurship Students Association, Local community service in Tucson

Basically... Should I count on getting into USC or accept that I'm transferring to OCC for a year to boost my chances of admission to USC for my junior year?

How about an overall idea of your reason for wanting to transfer? It’s sometimes a pretty important factor.

I hate replying to chances, because acceptance decisions are so unpredictable, however, I’d say you have a decent chance if you maintain the high GPA and depending on the strengths of your recommendation letters, resume, and essays.

On the positive side, USC accepts a pretty decent amount of transfers, rather than a school like Stanford, so I’d lean more toward yes than no. You might have a better shot of asking this question in the UC forums, with California-oriented people who have a better understanding of the school’s criteria.

Also, check that monster 80,000 page USC thread from last year if you haven’t already, everyone, including myself, posted in that thread with their stats and decisions…

Good luck and stop worrying. It’s not worth analyzing your chances this point if you have already submitted your application. Just pray for the best, do a rain dance or two, and pick up an entertaining hobby, say underwater basketweaving, to keep your mind off of the whole process. I was a wreck last summer and it ended up taking away from my spring semester and the beginning of my summer break, more than I wish I would have let it…
