Myself and another kid from my school both applied to Bucknell RD. Do both of us have less of a chance to get in since we are coming from the same New York high school?

Just curious because Bucknell could be number one of two on my list.

Probably not because you are both from the same high school. But Bucknell already has a very heavy enrollment from NY, NJ, and New England in general...seems like they are more heavily recruiting on the west coast in recent years. If they are looking to provide more geographic diversity, they will be looking toward applicants from the midwest and south.

no, normalkid.....am just fairly familiar with BU with my own kids researching colleges over the last 5 years.

What are your scores, GPA, ECs, etc.? Outstanding stats will get you noticed by schools, no matter where you live. Do you have a major in mind? BU's engineering programs seem to have higher significantly higher admit standards than their other depts.

Lots of other EC's, hoping they will help a little...but i think Bucknell strives for the outstanding stats kids and never really looks at anything else....maybe im wrong?

Also, I know an adult who is personal friends with the director of admissions at Cornell, she wrote a rec for me. My older brother goes to cornell.

Also, my mother went to University of Rochester...those are all the alumni relations I have at all of the schools.

pretty impressive ECs, normalkid. Your SATs look a bit low for eng. programs at BU, but you'd be fine in non-eng. areas, I'd think. Keep us posted - only a few more weeks to wait...even though it seems like forever.

by "eng. programs" you mean engineering programs i assume....I'm not applying under that major...I was actually applying as a Business major....hense fbla (future business leaders of america)....anyway...what do you think my chances are; a percentage?

You and I have pretty similar stats althought I have slightly higher SATs than you (1280) and I'm also applying to be a business major. I'm still actually worried about my SATs because they say the average is about 1300. Other than that you should be okay.

I think you both have a decent chance with those SATS. I've seen that 1300 figure quoted, as well. Don't forget, there are lots of engineers' much higher scores averaged in there to get to the 1300.

Sorry, normalkid....I should have been clearer in my abbreviating engineer!

How selective is Bucknells Business program compared to all the other majors? For example, how many spots do you think they take...80...and how many do you think apply?

I don't think its more selective than actually getting into the school. What I mean is, if they think that you're good enough to get into Bucknell, they shouldn't deny you admission into the Business school. The Engineering school however would be an exception to my theory.

you can be admitted to the school but not to the business program. You have a chance to transfer into it 3rd semester if grades are high enough, over subscribed program.

Im still eagerly awaiting to hear from Bucknell which is my #1 or 2 school. I applied as a business major and think my chances are fairly similar to everyone else who has posted on this thred.

Ive taken all honors courses and APs available, was captain of two varsity sports teams, and have extremely similar ECs to normalkid when concerned with FBLA. Let me know what you think my chances are...thanks in advance
