AM PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE TO PARENT FORUM FRIENDS

For the past three years, many of you have known me as a participant on the Parent Forum in my role as a parent of two daughters, one currently a sophomore at Brown University and one a freshman at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts’ CAP21 Program (BFA, Musical Theater). I would like to also introduce myself to you now in my other role, and that is as a College Counselor on the College Confidential counseling team. In 2003, I earned a certificate in college advising from the College Confidential Adjunct-Counselor Training Program and have been counseling prospective families and their students ever since. I have over twenty-five years experience in the field of education, from elementary to undergraduate and graduate education. I have also been conducting college admissions interviews for ten years as an alumnus of my college. I received a BA in Child Study from Tufts University and an Ed.M. from The Harvard Graduate School of Education. My experience with the college admissions process includes the roles of educator, interviewer, counselor, and parent. My college admissions expertise includes, but is not limited to, selective college admissions as well as performing arts degree programs.

I announced my role as one of College Confidential’s college counselors today on the Colleges for Musical Theater Forum and the Arts Majors Forum to coincide with a new service we are providing. In addition to the college counseling services and packages that CC already offers, we have added a new package for clients applying to theater programs as it is a specialized admissions process with many added facets in terms of selection of schools, as well as the audition process for admission. Since I was letting those readers know about that development, I decided to also make sure that readers on the Parent Forum, many of whom I have known a long while (and certainly new posters/readers too) found out from me directly that I have been and continue to be available as one of the counselors on CC. To learn more about these counseling services and for help with the college admissions process, please go to: http://www.collegeconfidential.com/college_counseling/index.htm. While that link takes you to an overview of the counseling services, you need to click on the link lower down on the page that reads: "College Counseling Services from College Confidential" to read about the specific services, packages and fees, including the new theater package.

I will continue to participate on the CC forums as a parent (as SoozieVT) as in the past, sharing personal experiences, being a friend, and trying to be helpful as well. I will still answer general questions about college admissions, but if someone needs additional assistance on their individual case, I will suggest for you to consider the counseling services offered by College Confidential in this area.

I look forward to continuing to participate on the forum and have made many friendships here that I wish to continue. I also wanted to make you aware of the counseling services that I do as an advisor with College Confidential should you find you'd like such assistance.

Regards,
Susan

Congratulations, Susan! I know you will be wonderful in your new role, and am glad you will continue as a "regular" participant and friend!

Thank you MomOfThree. Actually this is NOT a new role for me. I have been with CC for over two years as a counselor but I have not discussed that role here on the forum before. The only new thing is now you know and this announcement coincides with our offering of the new theater counseling package. But I hope to still be the same 'ole Soozie as I have been as a parent on here for over three years!

PS... I owe you an email....sorry for the delay....am quite behind and was away for several days. Hope to get back to you soon.......Susan

Thanks! And take your time!! Sounds like lots going on!

Congrats, Susan! :)

This sounds like a great opportunity - and you are a phenomenal person to offer such a service. CC certainly chose well. :) Glad to hear that SoozieVT will still be with us.

cool congratulations
they made a good choice :)

Hey Ariesathena and Emeraldkity...thanks for the supportive comments. It's not new for me but just news to you :D. I love doing it. But I am still a mom on the forum, like always and have been all the while.

Aries....hope law school is treating you well.
Susan

Booyah , Susan! You've given so much of yourself here on the forum, it's great to think people who need the service will have you as a resource. Yay!

Long live strong women and CC. This is a great piece of news.....congrats. Anyone just coming to CC will be greatly served by having you here.

soozievt--that's great news! Thanks for posting. Will remember for a little over a year from now when my girls will be starting the early stages of the process. Congratulations!

Absolutely fantastic!

Congrats, Susan! Yours was one of the more calming voices when my son was in the throws of colleges admissions, and I am glad that you have found that a fitting position to help young people finds colleges that fit.

SUSAN!!!~

Thanks for letting us know about this wonderful advisory position you hold with CC! You certainly have viewed the college application experience from all different angles. You bring a great deal of experience and perspective to your work. I wish you the best as you continue in this exciting and gratifying position!:)

love, ~berurah

Well that's good news. I always felt comfortable recommending CC's counseling service as Dave was very helpful to us. Now I have another good reason!

Don't know the word to use for something that's news to us, even if it's not new to you, so I'll stick with - congrats!

Congrats to you, Susan! CC has made an excellent choice. In my short time with CC, I've come to value the experience, wisdom and thoughtfulness of your posts. You'll be a great resource for families coming down the pike.

YAY Susan!! It is a great fit for you...this counselor role. You have done it anyway, over so many years and so selflessly..

Congratulations, Susan!!! Now, so many more folks will be able to benefit from your sage counsel.

Susan,
Since we know you, do we get special insider treatment?

I join in the congrats. Sorry I have no more kids going through the process. Well...no, I'm not sorry. But the congrats are sincere!:)
