ok ive been thinking and thinking about my recommendations and my extracurriculars- im not sure if i should go through w/ the app. imean im pretty much done w/ the essays and everything, and ive turned in the app fees. (but i havent interviewed yet) but iono, ive been thinking pretty hard about my chances- (icant believe im saying this haha) should i do it?

my 'stats' are on the democratic school thread.

idk i mean that ive been looking over the numbers- and im actually very unsure right now about my chances. sure, id be ecstatically happy if i got in, but im not sure if thats gonna happen anytime soon.

Have you visited yet? If you've already done everything but the interview why not finish it up..? You never really know who's going to get in because it just depends so much on what the admissions want! I'd say go for it, you already payed and wrote the essays! Unless of course you would be flying to the north east just for those two interviews?

It depends on why you are thinking about not applying. Have you lost interest in these schools or have you lost confidence in your ability to gain admission? If it's the first, don't apply. If it's the second and you think you would be happy at these schools, then you should apply. Of course, there is a chance that you will not be accepted. They are very competitive, and they have more qualified candidates than they have places for them. You've done all the work, so why not?
Do you have other schools that you love that are not as competitive? This is key for having choices in March.
Chin up and go for it!

okay so I just looked at your chances thread and I mean I thought it looked pretty strong! How are your teachers recs and essays though...?? Since you said Andover would be your dream school, I'm kind of confused to why you would want to not apply anymore..

I am so sorry , but to encourage this application based on the facts and stats you posted is a waste of $50 and unrealistic.Underacheiver from a prep family who wants to change schools after a few months. It is not cool to get emotional and ignore facts for this nice person.

A little insecurity at this point in the process, considering all the hoops you have to jump through and the perceived (from CC) level of competition would be normal. Just something you have to put your head down and work through.

You'll feel a lot better on the day you send in the apps. And then you'll start to wonder again. All perfectly normal.

And March will roll around and the anxiety will heighten until the envelopes arrive.

what are you talking about francis? who is from a prep family? me or sabre? who do you think decided to apply to boarding school after a few months? who the hell are you referring to? ignore the facts? have you SEEN her stats? she's amazing! and her stats pale in comparison to her personality.

Good god. I hope that no one really has enough time so that they make two different sceen names on a website so that they can manipulate people into thinking that they are either helpful or have excellent chances of getting into boarding school. I don't really think anyone has, but if they have, that's really silly and unnecessary.
sabregiel, there's no reason why you should not give it a chance. What would you gain from it? I've been quite worried about that too, but if you still like those schools, then just see what happens.
