I scored a 32 C, 35 C, 1680, and 1710 (I took my SATs a year before my ACTs)…
For universities that require all testing if you’ve taken the ACT and/or SAT (i.e UPenn, Stanford, etc.), will they look at my SAT score and be in doubt/suspicion or at least hurt me in anyway? I know that they state that they only look at your highest score, but my situation is a bit of stretch between a 35 C and a 1710. I have a gut feeling that some of you are probably going to say “don’t worry about what you can’t change”, but I’d greatly appreciate your honest opinions about this matter (and yes, I’m going to be sending in all 4 test scores).
I’m pretty sure they just look at your ACT score and use that for admissions.
Many people do well on the ACT and not on the SAT not because they’re dumb or anything, it’s just that they’re more comfortable with the ACT (it’s style and format) and colleges respect that.
@rdeng2614 Alright, I was just worried that my situation might be a kind of stretch because a 1710 and a 35C is like a 600 point difference on the SAT scale.
@T26E4 I personally don’t want to, but some colleges that I’m applying to literally require all tests you’ve taken.
The only colleges that actually require you to send both all SATs and all ACTs are Georgetown, Penn, and Stanford. Yale and Duke allow you to just provide all ACTs, but if you decide to send any subject tests, which are needed for those two colleges only if you want to rely on the SAT, you must send all SATs and all subject tests. As to any other colleges that have an “all scores” requirement of any kind, you can send either the SATs or the ACTs and do not need to provide both. In any event, colleges assert that if you submit both tests, they will use that test, SAT or ACT, that is better for you to determine admission and not hold the other one against you.
