very good, you have a better chance than I do... :) Good Luck!
Wait... you're not applying for financial aid?

Are there that many hours in a week to do all of this? You sound astonishing and I wish you luck.
Remember that the college applications will usually ask you to quantify the time you spend in each activity.
So, next to each one you might have to note 4 hrs./wk x 3 wks/year

That makes it a more interesting menu, because it will show where you have had to work intensively on an EC project for a short time period for one activity, while another one was spread out (for example, 1 hr./wk x 30 wks/yr) which represents a different work-ethic (commitment over time, not giving up).

They might also ask you, in writing, to choose one that means the most to you. (Good luck on that, for you, it might be a challenge to choose.) You could, perhaps pick a group of similar ones (such as working with children, or
student governance) and say that this GROUP meant the most to you. But, if you can, choose one that moved your heart and mind the most, and be ready to explain why it meant the MOST to you.

Best wishes and good luck, Keep us posted!

nope no financial aid!??...im worried about my SAT2's not beint 800's

just playing..well ive worked hard for 4 years on my ec's i know i was okay in school but my parents pushed me to the limit got me internships in london and where i live...i spent alot of time on community service and debating...cricket was always a passion and i found time for that too..i guess i perfected the art of time management and i still found time to sleep...i think my sat's will harm me..i dont seem to be happy with that or my GPA...i could do better...but oh well thnks for the advice anyone else!?

bumpppp.......................

mm quit being a perfectionist. no college will reject u for sat 2 scores and will probly be happy ur not another international who spent a year studying for sat 2's. u probably should have applied to a safety or 2 bc rice is by no means easy to get into and that is the weakest school on your list, however, id be surprised if u didnt get into many of the schools listed if not all of them bc no school would lower their profile or level of accomplishment of their student body by admitting u, if ur app's were presented well, ul be in at most of the schools u listed.

EC's are AMAZING but qualifying for national merit semi-finalist (or finalist) would have definitely made you look better, 171's a bit low

your sats are not weak at all... in the mid 700s is fine, plus its only ONE aspect of your application

i couldnt qualify for national merit...im not an american citizen so i couldnt bother studying for the PSAT...my SAT went from a 1900 on my first go to a 2180 in my second with a composite of 2260...i didnt find time to study for my SAT2's so basically that was without studying!...anyone else????..i have backups..i got a likely from UNC Chapel Hill, and got into DREW...i also applied to UMICH, and UCSB as well as northwestern...so yeah...

bump.....anyone else

bumpp.........

2260 = "a bit low?" Somebody's being hard on themselves...

You have a chance at any school in the country. I'd call Cornell relatively safe. The rest are crapshoots.

Why don't we all pick the best students in our schools and combine their stats to impress total strangers on an online forum? Seriously, track, basketball, cricket, debate, MUN, newspaper (E in C), almost 200 hours in volunteering, various jobs, math, etc. plus some form of distinction in all of them? Do seriously think you can BS the admissions officers like that? Maybe, in your supreme naivete, you think that being an international applicant makes you invulnerable to scrutiny or maybe you're outright lying and having a great laugh at us. I honestly think your scores are the only truth in your post and that you're either severely embellishing or listing completely fallacious information to see whether or not you can save yourself with a whole slew of ECs. Let's not be gullible here, kids like you don't exist, it's unnatural.

Harvard will reject you for being too good. I'm sure that if you were in India and took that IIT test, you would pass with flying colors and pink and purple sparkly polka dots (after studying, of course).

umm prospectiveMD...i know kids like you exist..they call everyone liars and "BSers"...its not that impossible to have great EC's if i worked hard on them NO one has the right to tell me that my teachers put them down in my REC's as well...this website is for ppl who are willing to help others not scutinize them and mock them..of you wanna do that maybe you should go somewhere else..thanks!...

I'm trying to help you by telling you not to embellish your application to the point that it seems unrealistic. Only you know that you're lying. I can neither prove it nor can you deny it without someone simply interpreting it as another lie. You can say what you like in your desperation to be someone you are not, but my advice to you is to not lie and state only what is true. I assume you are already aware of this but most colleges either can not or do not take the time to confirm the authenticity of what you state in your application. If it helps ease your conscience to not be treated as a complete BSer, then let me reiterate my point in a more palpable format: Be intelligent and purposely trim the fat on your application so that a) colleges believe it and b) you don't seem like someone who just does things for the sake of doing them and not because he enjoys/care about it. Peace out.
