Amazing places to live in for college

As I'm looking into more and more college, location has gone from being a minor factor to a huge factor.

I am really looking for cities with exciting urban lifestyles. As a someone from the suburbs, the prospect of living in a city seems amazing. So far I have made a starting list: Philadelphia (penn), nyc (columbia), ann arbor (umich - still have to visit), pittsburg (upitt/cmu - still have to visit), boston/cambridge (harv/mit)

What are some good cities to live in? Somewhere exciting, vibrant, popular, not so dangerous, clean and not filled with hobos :(

atlanta and detroit

Well, you’ve got some great areas listed, I can’t add a lot. I think California or Hawai’i would be cool, but I’ll keep it to somewhere I have been: Washington, D.C.

I like the suburbs.

Vancouver fits all of your criteria except for the part about hobos.

Can anyone please give me advice on how I can do well on the AP US and AP English Language Tests?

Can someone please give me advice on picking my outfit for school tomorrow?

Where’s that thread… not going to bother. I recommend Fuddruckers

You mean Fudpucker’s…

Same difference :D

Boston and NYC

Hawaii, like Hawaii Pacific or U of H. (Chaminade is kind of eh)

^I wish there were more colleges in hawaii :(

Any of those Hawaiian colleges (including Chaminade) will help you out just fine in the Hawaiian job market if you’re looking to stay in Hawaii.

D.C, Bay Area, Boston

I second seahawks’ suggestion of Atlanta and Detroit. Also be sure to include South Central LA and South Boston.

Northampton/Am[h]erst area
Boston
Coastal california
Seattle
NYC
basically any metropolitan or somewhat metropolitan area, preferably with neighboring colleges.

Boston is an awesome city. It’s huge, a great college town, and the thing that blows my mind is that it’s CLEAN. I wore white shoes for walking tours at BC, Harvard, MIT, and general walking around throughout the city for 5 days, and my shoes were still white. I’m used to the Philthy-delphia environment. I also love DC for its busy, fast-paced environment, but its not exactly a college town.

Really? I was under the impression that since it has 10+ colleges/universities in town and has a very vibrant, diverse and youthful population that it was definitely one of the best college towns in the US. During my stay at Georgetown, I felt like the surrounding area was very college-friendly and welcoming. The club/bar-scene was fantastic … the only thing that would cast DC out as a college town would be that it’s relatively expensive to a college student’s budget.
