Amazing Race 2020

I want to say yes but I don’t have a good enough memory to point to a specific incident. They may have been more minor assists than the sauerkraut assist!

Chee’s sauerkraut answer was epic----she was screaming all the way down, yet had the presence of mind to figure out the puzzle!

The others would have taken forever to figure that out.

Of the three remaining, I feel like Hung and Chee get the least amount of airtime. I wonder if that means one of the other two teams win.

I thought the alliance would end a lot sooner than it did. I wonder how much of the alliance push is because current contestants have years of reality shows to base their play on. Including being able to study past AR episodes.

I liked the football players and thought they might pull it off. I guess of the remaining 3 I’m rooting for the beards although they have annoyed me in how mean they’ve been. But not as much as the Boyfriends. The married couple also went up in my opinion when she said she wanted to pay for their 3 daughters’ college. That’s a financial strategy! I also read an interesting interview with the football players where Gary emphasized that DeAngelo didn’t really know much about AR, hadn’t realized he’d agreed to be Gary’s partner until Gary told him they had to film a video for it, and that he thought he’d get to see much more of the countries he was visiting. He could see the Eifel Tower from their hotel room but wasn’t allowed to visit it. Sort of hilarious but puts some context to his comments about not doing it again. But both he and particularly Gary have evidently traveled quite a bit. Also it mentioned they don’t have phones so really only have other contestants to talk to so they did become good friends and all keep in touch / trashtalk each other.

Not a fan of the alliance either especially-- the way it played out on the the last episode. I would have been furious if I had been in the NFLr’s position. I still do not understand why the Boyfriends targeted this team or Alan and Leo previously. I guess that is something for their therapists to sort out.

I wish that it had been a surprise nonelimination leg just to see the expressions on the other’s faces.

Only themselves! And Gary helped them with the pillar thing that he was too stupid to figure out because once again he didn’t read the clue. That seems to be the downfall for a lot of them.

Also, Deangelo totally helped Chee on that Sauerkraut thing by telling her before she walked up that there was a word she needed to unscramble and suggested they work together. If he hadn’t told her that, she like every other group wouldn’t have paid attention to that. So her giving the answer to everyone was only with an assist by him. I admit it bothered me that she was all bitter at them for taking a cab when it was obvious they weren’t being malicious and didn’t even realize they did that and then she just turned the others against them. Her husband was way more chill than her. While I can’t stand the brothers, they are admittedly probably the strongest team.

And while I don’t think they ever plan to film and pay for a season and not air it, I just don’t wouldn’t be surprised if they had no plans to air this one. They were in mid-shooting in March when they had to bring back everyone due to Covid and I would think that is the show they would be airing now, not a show filmed from 2 years ok that was sort of boring. They also could’ve just gone and interviewed pairs from prior seasons (which actually may have been more interesting) to see what they were doing now, what their strategies were, etc.

“I wish that it had been a surprise nonelimination leg just to see the expressions on the other’s faces.”

Omg, now that would have been awesome!

If Covid had not hit, I think this current season would have aired last spring, and right now we’d be finishing up watching the season whose filming was interrupted last March.

If Covid had not hit, we would have watched this season last summer and now be watching the final episodes of Survivor 41. The season that got shut down would have likely aired next summer.

@JazzyTXMom your comment about “their therapists” seems really uncalled for.

Like all reality tv we see what the producers choose to let us see. It’s entertainment. It’s a race. It’s strategy. It’s not going to be all pretty and tied with a bow of honesty.

What bothered me most about the alliance was that it was 3 teams against 1 team. And that the 3 made it so obvious that they were working together.

Up until the final challenge in the last episode, I had really enjoyed this season of TAR. I hope this isn’t a new style of play that we will see in future seasons.

@skieurope you’re probably correct----I had forgotten that TAR is now only one-game per TV season, usually airing in the late-winter to spring.

Amazing that TAR has won numerous Emmys, probably more than Survivor, yet Survivor gets 2 seasons per year while the Race gets only one.

I just watched the last episode. With every episode I dislike the boyfriends more. I think they targeted Leo and Alana and Gary and De Angelo not because they were strong teams but for whatever reason they didn’t like them. I think they are up at the top of my list of least favorite teams on the Amazing Race. I don’t think they were an especially great team and I think they owe their spot in the finals to a lot of the other teams and to some of the manipulative behavior they displayed. Ideally hope they don’t win.
I think the brothers and Hung and Chee are strong in different types of challenges and a lot will depend on what challenges they come across in the final leg.
One of the past winning teams are both on my local news. I always think of the AR when I watch the news.

Couldn’t agree with this more. I liked Leo and Alana too and the boys kept complaining they were one of the strongest teams so they had to eliminate them. Yeah on what planet were they the strongest team? Maybe in brains but nothing else in this season led anyone to believe that lie. Their laughs and smirks just ugh turn me off so much. Its just way too over the top.

Now that it’s basically over I need to ask my son more about the person he knows that was on that season and if she/he was able to share any insight into any of the dynamics of the teams of maybe now that it’s aired they can. I’m so happy to say it’s not any of these 6 jerks.

@mom60 may I ask what former team is on your news??

Interesting that there are so many derogatory remarks here about other teams doing/saying mean things…Maybe do a self check before criticizing others…

Also sounds like the producers did a good job of picking teams - 10 or 11 nice and perfect teams do not a reality show make.

Kelsey and Joey from season 27

Reminder that tonight is the finale. Bummed that it’s only an hour.

Imagine Covid 40 years ago (pre-VCR) and no DVR or computers.

I stumbled onto the Amazing Race reruns on Prime the other night and the first to come up was season 25 with Bethany Hamilton (Soul Surfer). I started watching and then had to binge finish it. What great locations and fun challenges.
