Amazing Race 2020

BOOOOOOOOOOOO! lol

Boycotting the finale because of last week’s episode and the whole alliance. Still, I hope the Beard Bros win and the others realize what fools they were to think they could beat them in the end. Just run your own race.

Omg , was that the absolute worst thing ever? There was nothing of skill in that at all, unless you call jumping off a bridge skill.

Still think they never had any intention of airing this one. If they previewed it for an audience it would’ve been a big flop for sure.

@mountainsoul You did not miss a single thing!

Boooo!

Ugh, not even close. Bummer.

First 2 challenges that took the most time all about luck, boo. The music puzzle from the previous leg would have been a good final challenge.

I said that exact thing. That then too would’ve avoided the 3 teams from colluding.

Also, it seemed luck of the taxi is really what made the difference and their familiarity with New Orleans. Not one other thing was skill. Looking for a baby? No skill, just luck.

Very disappointing. The linear tasks were just not that interesting. Maybe they thought that grabbing the clue while jumping from the bridge would have been tougher? Otherwise, once the Beard Bros got lost in the taxi, it was all over. Finding the baby was luck and the globe task seemed like no real skill or thought process.

I wonder if the H&C and the Beard Bros regretted the alliance. I am not sure that the Beard Bros got much out of it did they?

Hopefully, there will be another season. Still love the show.

Was such a blah finale. Didn’t think there really were any challenges.

Congrats to the winners who despite the fact that perhaps the challenges weren’t the hardest still seemed to do the tasks the quickest - and in every leg -luck or skill - the fastest to complete the tasks wins.

I do have to point out that all the dislike for the alliance…there were 5 (?) teams in an alliance originally - teams like the football players who lost through the alliance have to realize that they just reached a point in the alliance where they were the low ones on the totem pole - and that’s when they lost. Just like others lost when the football players were part of the alliance.

Not saying the alliance was a good strategy but that the goal of any alliance - what you sign up for when you agree to be part of an alliance on a competitive show - is to get other teams out. Eventually only one team is left standing .

Interesting factoid: with this win, this is the first time that the winners of the most recent seasons of the most watched English-language versions of TAR (US, Canada, Australia) have all been teams of gay men.

What about Josh and Brent , the Beekman Boys goat farmers? They won season 21.

Also had to look up Tyler and Korey who I loved and who I think were so memorable- but they actually didn’t win!

Reread my post

I agree that this final leg was not very exciting as the challenges did not require all that much skill. That definitely favored a first in/first out scenario which worked in the Boyfriends favor. Besides the Beard Bros taxi delay, all of the team seemed to get through the challenges without much difficulty–except for maybe the King Cake.

I agree that the music challenge from the previous episode would have been a better fit for the finale and in line with prior seasons’ finales. I wonder how the teams would have done with the music challenge without help from the “alliance”.

Oh @skieurope you’re saying of those English speaking versions , all the winners on the last season aired have been gay couples. Gotcha.

It would be interesting to know how far apart times were for 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Maybe it was longer than we think (or not!) and the boyfriends were just speedy quick.

I still enjoyed the season overall. There have been several seasons that have bugged me from the start, but in general, I love the show, and remain a fan. Bring on another season!

Yes, hope they can resume filming some time next year of the season that was cut off due to COVID.

I was reading online elsewhere that folks were against the alliance as well. Even talking of a penalty for teams in an alliance. I didn’t mind the informal help from one team to another in the past but the way these teams colluded to ensure that they made the final 3 and the other didn’t rubbed me the wrong way.

Someone mentioned that old seasons of the Race are on amazon prime. We haven’t watched all seasons, so started watching an old one yesterday. Was surprised by how difficult the challenges then were - have they “dumbed” down the challenges with each year?

I’ve watched TAR with my family since its inception and, yes, the challenges have gotten much easier over the years. Speed bumps used to be very difficult and actually could “bump” someone out of the race. I feel like location memory/organizational tasks like we saw this season were a usual part of the race.

Some of our favorite challenges from past seasons: the hay bale challenge (S6) and the cheese wheel challenge (S14).
