Big hit—all the white Corelle dishes—salad plate set, dinner plate set, pasta bowls and bread plates. We love the light and compact new set and discarded our old heavy stone wear set.
An unusual hit: shower doors with installation. I couldn’t get anyone local to even give me estimates, so crossed my fingers and ordered online. Worked out great and cost half what I would have paid otherwise!
Misses due to shipping: both a huge whiteboard and a dog crate liner arrived broken (separate shipments), but Amazon came through with replacements. (The liner, by the way, is my puzzle tray.)
Man, the cookies on my Amazon account will be going crazy after this tread.
I buy things like blades for my rotary cutter. The cost up to $45 at Joann’s but about $15 for 10 on Amazon. Some have terrible reviews but the ones I purchased work fine.
Bought these nose clips for making masks and they are great.
In the off chance someone else is in the same position, this model will work (at least for xfinity): ARRIS SURFboard T25. Arrived but dh hasn’t tried it yet.
I sit with my laptop on my lap quite a bit and my wrist started hurting (on it so much more since sheltering). I wanted a lap desk but this was was huge and bulky and just didn’t work for me:
@Marilyn – I bought the screen repair tape too! Definitely a hit!
@collage1 – I just bought this lap desk this week to improve my Covid couch-work environment - and I am very happy with it – https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07W51WHJ9/ – It folds up really easily and works really well.
@collage1 I’ve had that compost bin for a couple of years and love it! It is so easy to clean and the flip top, removable lid is great. I have the smaller one and keep it on the counter next to our sink. We could probably use the larger one b/c we fill ours almost daily, especially in the summer, but I don’t have room under my sink for the larger one. We have a big compost bin in the backyard that dh uses to fertilize our garden, so it’s easy enough to dump it daily. I totally agree with your recommendation!
@collage1 – I researched til the cows came home and never could find a compatible modem. I have xfinity and a line land too. It’s really because of the landline. If you do happen to find one please post. I think I read the Aris wouldn’t work either but please report back.
I can’t think of too many misses! I’ve had a pair or two of ear buds that didn’t last the longest - but for at least one of them I bought the extra warranty for like $2-3 and was able to get credit.
I haven’t bought many clothing items myself but D’s and DIL have purchased extra bathing suits on Amazon inexpensively and have loved them.
This was a huge miss as well as hit.
It took forever to arrive and when it did, it wasn’t anywhere near what I ordered. Customer service was great, but it still took several more weeks for the right cabinet to arrive. Plus side, I got to keep the wrong piece and they didn’t charge me! We put it into S19’s room as a media cabinet and it looks great. So it all ended really well, but was very frustrating getting to that point. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GUF7NFI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This will seem quite different but I bought them for my girls. The quality is excellent, both the fabric and manufacture. So much less $ than local lingerie shops.
My biggest misses are the repeated occurrence, most recently with Apple headphone converters, of items with 4.9 ratings that turn out to be junk. And when you go back and read the reviews, they’re for different products, often in different languages.
I buy cable for future use, so when I finally needed them I threw away four pieces of junk yesterday - two were one item with bogus reviews and the other didn’t exist anymore. Amazon’s sole response is “sorry, it’s past the return window”.
I looked for replacements and the highly rated items had the same issue. I gave up and am looking elsewhere.
It’s a set of 4 (for $9.99… admittedly I have not decided whether to order them yet… might be helpful when running with my wired earphone - I’m posting because I know there are a lot of healthcare workers with sore ears . Also I’ve heard complaints about mask logistics for hearing aids users )
We have had very productive tomato plants this year. In the past, I’ve borrowed my neighbor’s tomato press to easily skin and seed the tomatoes. I used his a couple of times early this summer but decided I really needed my own. I couldn’t find one similar to his anywhere - they seemed to be sold out. Another friend posted some pics on FB of her husband’s tomato press, which looked a lot nicer. I found it on Amazon. The best part is that I don’t have to split the skins and dunk in simmering hot water before running them through the press. All I have to do is cut the tomatoes in chunks and then run them thru. This machine is much more stable and not nearly as messy as my neighbor’s. The only downside is that you have to hand wash the parts rather than run them thru the dishwasher.
It also isn’t really just a tomato press - it can be used with all kinds of fruit. My neighbor’s was not as versatile.
Looks like this is not currently available on Amazon prime, just thru Amazon sellers. I’m sure it will be back on Amazon Prime eventually.
I have not had too much bad luck with Amazon. Two years ago, I bought all my lightings for my new addition. They are very good hits. But you cannot get them any more, that is my miss.
@colorado_mom I feel like the headband would have to be REALLY tight for the mask attached not to slip or for the headband not to move around with the mask on it. And if the headband is that tight I think it would give me a headache!
