Ambiguous prompt?

Hello and thanks to anyone willing to help! I’m working on my application for one of Georgetown’s pre-orientation programs, and the prompt is very vague:

"It doesn’t interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dream, for the adventure of being alive” -The Invitation by Oriah Mountain Dreamer.

When was the last time you chanced looking like a fool for love, for your dream, or for the adventure of being alive?

The prompt seems very life-or-death to me, and I have neither had any Ryan Gosling movie-level romances nor have I jet set around the world. Am I interpreting the prompt wrong? Would it be okay if I talked about an instance where I spoke up for myself? This prompt just seems very dramatic to me and I don’t live a very dramatic life!

Thanks in advance for any suggestions :slight_smile:

I think if you focus on a situation that forced you out of your comfort zone, you’d be fine. Think more abstractly , not so concretely.

@carolinamom2boys Thank you!

The prompt doesn’t expect you to write about an over dramatic movie-like incident. I think you should write about a memorable incident or adventure that got you so pumped up that you didn’t mind to act foolish about it. This prompt is to test to what lengths you can go to follow something you believe in.
