Amc-12

are we allowed to discus ansewrs

I don't see any reason why not. The test is already over.

By the way, by "top five percent", they mean top five percent AT YOUR SCHOOL, right?

I dont think we can discuss it yet. One of the parents on the other AMC thread wrote "Please make sure not to discuss the Tuesday 1 February 2005 AMC 10A and AMC 12A tests until NOON on Thursday 3 February 2005, to ensure test security and fairness to all participants. Other online forums on which people discuss math tests are also observing this rule." I also remember our test administrator saying something about not discussing answers till tomorrow (?)

Do not discuss answers until Thursday! People on the west coast and in Hawaii are taking the same exam, and some schools do it in the evening.

The top 5% is nationwide, for everyone taking the exam. Some schools will have no AIME qualifiers at all. Other schools will have a lot more than 5%.

It seems like they place a lot of trust in people to not discuss answers, giving us the test booklet to keep and all.

When do AMC grades usually come in?

Is there a second time the AMC12 is given? I was sure they are administrating it sometime during school, so I didn't come today (I payed for it but today we are off school)?

last year, they took the booklets from us, but this year we kept them, which is kind of silly, seeing as how they made us throw our scrap paper away. Some ppl worked their stuff out on the booklets... But i'm not complaining, because we were able to look at the questions and see whether we made stupid mistakes and stuff. Now i'm a little bit confused though, because USUALLY i make a stupid mistake, and this time i seem to have been able to answer 13 WITHOUT any.

Theres a second adminstration of the AMC12, but its not the same test. The test today was the AMC12A and the next test will be the AMC12B. I'm not sure what the exact test date is.

Really? We were always allowed to take our booklets and our work sheet (scrap paper).
We even went over the questions/answers during class today. It was exciting. Many just did 11 problems and rest blank to get 101 to pass on to AIME. I wonder if the "top 5%" will be lower than 100 (meaning ppl w/ 99's will be going on to AIME).
Good luck to all who still have to take it!
Many ppl did badly who did well last year (20 pts drop?--is that normal?) but I thought it went well. I, however, needed a bad restroom break, rendering me unfit to solve for about 15 min. in total... dang. I think I got a 126.5. thou.

When do the answers go online? Today?

I only got a 94.5. Man, I made some DUMB mistakes. That, and I spaced out for the first 50 minutes and only started solving problems for the last 25 or so.

Heh, 109 here. I got #4 wrong... :X

the next test date is Wed 16 Feb.

Some years (like this one) the instructions have said that kids could take the booklets home the same day, other years they've said that the teachers should collect them and return them after a week.

Answers to yesterday's test are up now:
http://www.unl.edu/amc/

^^ Is it just me or do those answers not correspond to the test at all?

Yeah...those aren't right. The answers that went to the test I took (which I'm assuming is the same as the test everyone else took) are:

1.D
2.B
3.B
4.A
5.B
6.B
7.C
8.D
9.A
10.B
11.E
12.D
13.D
14.D
15.C
16.D
17.A
18.A
19.B
20.E
21.C
22.B
23.B
24.B
25.C

Those are the answers, as listed in the solution manual that comes with the test.

Why does the site list the Feb. 16, 2005 AMC 12 answers when the test hasn't been given yet????

I got 12 right and none wrong, which I believe translates into a 104.5.

12 right 1 wrong, 102 i think

go to the site again. They accidently posted answers to last year's test. It's fixed now.

12 right one wrong, 102 like streetlight
