i made dumb off by 1 errors that made me go from 123 to a 105.
@wcao9311 if it makes you feel any better, I made at least three stupid mistakes while taking the 2011 AIME I (that test had an abnormally low cutoff for USAMO, around 188), including forgetting to divide by 3, and mis-writing a 3 as a 2.

I honestly thought that it was really easy. I just did the answer 18 problems strat but i’m pretty sure i got all 18 of them right. maybe i should have answered more but idc
I just answered the first 14 questions since they were all easy and omitted the rest… and then I messed up on the marble one because I forgot to eliminate the repeats (red yellow = yellow, red) and chose 1/3… I screwed up xP, I’m gonna try again on the AMC 12B and hopefully I wont make dumb mistakes

Ugh I just want to know what the cutoff/my score will be. Assuming that I got 15 correct, and that I left 7 blank, I think that I should be able to qualify for AIME

Great… I got a 94.5 because I made 3 really stupid mistakes… Hopefully the cutoff is a 94.5/a 93 like it was last year… When are cutoffs posted?

kingkwon that is a perfect example of why i think that strategy is bad even for people who’s only goal is to make AIME. better to answer 18 so you can miss 3 and still get a 100.5. IMO (no pun intended), 17, 18, and 20 were all quite easy this time.
Apparently I got 109.5…I almost fell asleep during the contest (slept very little the few nights before) and left 20 minutes early. I guess miracles do happen XD
To be fair, I did also find the contest a lot easier than usual.
