This year I did poorly on the AMC 10 as a sophomore. Lets say I got a 75 (I do not know exactly what I got). Would it be possible to get a 100 on the AMC 12 next year as a junior if I do some prep over the summer? I am pretty good at math taking Cal BC as a junior, but would it be possible or even worth it to prep for the AMC 12 to score an 100?
BUMP BUMP BUMP
Of course it’s possible, although taking Calc doesn’t mean you’ll be good at contest math. Took Calc BC this year (sophomore) and I just barely made it to AIME with the curve. I’ll be studying for AMC 12 as well. Good luck!
So is it possible to go from a 80 on AMC 10 to a 100 on AMC 12 with prep? If so, how much prep would it require?
bump
The amount of prep it requires will vary person to person. If you need reccomendations for ways to study (AoPS etc) CC will be able to help, but I don’t think you’ll be able to get anyone who will be able to tell you exactly how long it will take.
I regret to inform you that a score of 100 on the AMC is not possible,even for math genius. Thus, unfortunately, no matter how much prep you do, you’ll never be able to get a 100.
Don’t listen to pamstud’s comments - a 100 on the AMC12 is possible with good preparation (I’ve passed the AMC12 several times).
I think pamstud is just pointing out that a score of exactly 100 isn’t possible because everything is worth 1.5, 6, or 0 points…but I think that was an unnecessary thing for them to point out since the OP clearly meant 100 or more.
Lol that’s funny. If I’d guess, I’d say 2 hours per day for 2 months will suffice. Depends on you tho.
@DogsAndMath23 oops, failed to catch that
Although a 100 was possible several years ago (before 2007 I believe?)
I wouldn’t know, I haven’t known about the AMC for very long and I haven’t taken it. If I’m correct about the 6/1.5/0 thing, then 100 wouldn’t be possible, I think. A 99 or 100.5 would, though.
@DogsAndMath23 yes you’re right.
