i bet your math coordinator (or such) knows.. should have the record somewhere. I had to ask for my AIME score

I got 93 on the AMC 12 and I put it. I'm only half Asian, so I guess it's ok. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha not funny

I got a 96.5 last year as a sophomore. Is that a good score for a sophomore?

Not if you're asian....
I got a 99.5 last year and got yelled at...my friend got a 107ish and got yelled at too

You've got some pretty strict parents, fewfdsagdsag.
Does a "bad" AMC score hurt? Or can a good one only help?

Um. I got a 103 or a 104 on the AMC 12... Which was the 3rd highest for my school. And like... 0? or 1? or maybe 2? (They didn't tell me, it must have been awful) on the AIME. I guess I'm going be wayyy dumber than everyone else at MIT, huh?

Now I'm slightly scared. :-/

I promise there will be plenty of people dumber than you at MIT. :)

Seriously, there's a reason the app says "if you don't know what these scores are, don't worry about it." I never did this stuff in high school, so you're already one step ahead of me!

Don't let the chest-puffing get to you. Once you get here, things like SAT scores and high school GPAs and AMC scores don't matter anymore.

I said 132 instead of 132.5 for the 12. Unfortunately, I got deferred. However, I suspect that it wasn't because of my AMC score.

So round up or down? I'm doing up and noting it in the "additional information" section.

I truncated. Half a point won't make any appreciable difference.

so please tell me, if you have a score of 90-100 should you leave it blank or put it on?? (i have a 91). i was planning on leaving it blank so does it look bad?

I think just taking the test shows initiative and passion for mathematics above the average student, and 91 is not a bad score on a test like the amc 12. The average student would not even be able to answer 10 questions in the time period, let alone get them right.

im pretty sure about my AMC 12 score, but not positive, is there any way i can find out from AMC what my score is?

yes psychic alchemist, but we are talking about MIT here unfortunately. I think 70% of those at MIT may have scored about 100.

Haha, I think 70% of those at MIT might not have even taken the tests.

I'm with Mollie - most of the math majors at MIT have probably taken the AMC exams and gotten decent scores. But most high schools in the country don't even offer AMC exams, which means most high school students, even those applying to MIT, have probably never heard of them.

What would be considered a hooky score for AMC and AIME (that is not 150 and 15)?

i would say 130 and 6 could put you at an advantage

that sounds about right to me too. That's a USAMO index of 190, just below the USAMO cut-off for the past couple of years. It probably represents the top several hundred AMC test-takers in the country.

so texan, if i have a 91 should i put it or not? what i meant by my previous thread was 70% of those who HAVE taken AMC 12 at MIT have scored >100 (although this percentage is prob lower i dunno). if i dont put it, they wont care, but if i do, they probably wouldnt care OR they might slightly care to the negative side (that score doesn't correlate with my other math scores).
