hey did anyone take the amc 10 or 12 yet? how was it?

no, it's being offered tomorrow

remember Hawaii! Don't talk about specific questions until Wednesday.

argh, thanks for the reminder texas.

on Thursday there will be a MathJam on www.artofproblemsolving.com to discuss all the problems. Good luck to everyone taking it!

AMC? I go there to watch movie?

The movie doesn't have much of a plot. AMC = American Mathematics Competitions.

^ lol

Question: is the AMC limited to americans? I thought it was, but just a couple of days ago i heard one of my friends saying she was taking it (i'm in canada). how does that work?...

The AMC and AIME exams are open to all internationals. A lot of Asian schools participate. USAMO is open to US and Canadian citizens or permanent residents.

Anita, see if you can take the AMC A. If not, you will definitely be able to take the AMC B on the 16th since the late registration has not passed.

ok, i'll do that...thanx texas and zogoto :)

So what's the difference between the AMC A and B? I know I signed up for the AMC 12, but I'm not sure if I signed up to take it tomorrow or later in the year. I haven't heard anything about it from my school...

the A date is tomorrow (Tues Feb 1). The B date is in 2 weeks (Wed Feb 16). You can take the exam on either or both dates.

I don't know if I've asked you this before texas, but are you on aops???

yes, but I do not post as frequently as here. Same user name.

hmm... assuming that the fact that all of the answers my friend and I have in common are correct, I ended up with either 97 or 103. it all comes down to problem 21... out of curiosity, how many problems did people attempt? I did 15, b/c the standard theory is that if you want to just barely qualify for aime you do between 13-17.

I did 10, which should be a 97.5, because I wanted to do just enough not to qualify (I hate math competitions), which was 100 points IIRC. I just wanted to look like I was trying so I got extra credit for the class, but the 10 I did were the easy ones, and didn't require much in the way of thinking.

I got a 111.5. Did 14 problems, got all of them right.

+14 -1 == 109

I was supposed to take them and I have had the stupid flu! :(
