I have been accepted to AMDA in LA and I am going to attend in fall of 2013. I have some questions for current students. I am going to get a Bachelor's Degree in Acting. I want to be famous. But, how are the people? I am an outgoing people person, are others? Is it super competitive? What all can you do to the dorms? Decorating wise. Can you work and be a student? If so, is it hard to do? How many classes might I have a day? Do you have to take the summer semester? And if there is anything else I might need to know feel free to tell.

Hi Haley I see you haven’t received any replies yet. My daughter is auditioning for AMDA in 3 weeks. I have been looking for help on here too. Most of the info is old. My main concern is finances, as we really need full tuition. Her interest is in the BFA/acting program and being in the right biz locale. Also, being my only child, I fear her being soooooooo far away ! How are you progressing so far ?

I can’t really speak to the specifics, but a very close friend of mine is in the AMDA LA program and feels like he’s exactly where he should be. He’s had nothing but great things to say about it.

My daughter has been accepted for the BFA (MT focus} program in LA. It’s not a good school if financial support from the school is key to your decision. Unlike traditional colleges they provide very little scholarship money to offset their $40K+ cost. Thankfully my D has also been accepted to 2 other MT programs with better offers. I have been told that their scholarships range from $3500 to a maximum of $10,000 which is pitiful compared to their $40K price tag which doesn’t include a meal plan. Haley, my D has connected with some current an future AMDA students on Facebook so you might want to try that. There is also an AMDA facebook page that I’m sure you can locate. I’m not sure how likely it is to find AMDA students hanging out here on CC boards. The info you will find here is quite dated and mostly negative though few of the nay sayers have had any first hand experience with the AMDA program.

Hi,
I can’t offer you much help right now, however I start my courses at AMDA Los Angeles the February. So if you’d like I can update you on anything you may be wondering about once I start.

Hey Haley, I am actually going to be in the fall semester and for the BFA Acting! Do you have any information? If you do please let me know!! And I’ll be glad to help you too!

Hey Maria,
My son will be starting Feb. 2014 and he is doing the BFA Acting as well. How has your experience been so far?
