Amenities at UNC Chapel Hill

Hi, I'm beginning to consider my college options, and I have a few questions for students at UNC:

Are there co-ed dorms? By floor or by section? Co-ed bathrooms?

Is there air conditioning? How spacious are dorms? How prevalent is WiFi?

How is the food?

Thanks.

are u deciding btw washu and unc?

I’m deciding between a few colleges.

I think almost all of the dorms for freshmen are coed- mostly by suite, although I think some are by floor. All freshman dorms (or 99.9% of freshmen) live in suite-style dorms, so it’d be single-sex and shared with your suitemates.

A/C is optional, although fairly prevalent.

Dorms are average-sized, I’d say.

Wifi in dorms… not so great. You’d need an ethernet cable for most dorms unless you’re lucky.

Food- I’d give it a thumb’s up. The Ram’s Head (where I ate) had tons of options and the veggie stir fry I had was really delicious.

Yes, they’re co-ed by floor. No co-ed bathrooms though. All dorms will be air conditioned (I believe) starting with your class. Dorms can be pretty small or pretty large, depending on where you live. Wifi is spotty in the dorms, but there’s an ethernet port in every room that you can plug into. My room last year had poor wifi reception, but my room this year has very good wifi reception (I’m using it right now).

The food is food. Not terrible, but nothing to write home about.

After your freshmen year, do most students move out of the dorms and live in off campus housing?

whoa. i am also deciding between wash u and unc. coincidence?

Congrats! I’m also stuck between UNC, but my other top choices are Notre Dame or Northeastern (I’m from New England)
