American colleges and DRUGS

Why is that American students do weed at parties?? That doesn't make any sense. It makes more sense to take E or coke... doesn't it. I mean weed makes you lethargic, and at a party you want to dance and have a blast!

In the UK weed would be smoked when you're "staying in" with a small group of friends just to mellow out.

This seems quite different to how Americans use weed.

I don’t like it at parties either. I love weed, but it makes me antisocial and awkward (which is funny with a close, small group of friends).

The type of people who I see smoking at parties either mix weed and alcohol (which is really nice in moderation imo, but too much will give you the spins) or are the type of “pot heads” that smoke all day every day anyways.

Uhm I’d rather do weed than E or coke. For one, I’m not one to “dance and have a blast.” I’ll have a blast, sure, but it’ll usually involve me and my buddies saying funny **** and playing video games. I don’t really get high often but when I do I don’t get antisocial, on the contrary I start laughing at everything.

I really wish we still called it grass.

I’m no expert by any means, but weed doesn’t have long term effects on your body, whereas most of the other drugs do. I heard that if you take too much ecstasy, you begin to experience less and less emotion, even though you have a blast while you’re on ecstasy. Coke is MUCH worse.

Overall, I don’t understand why people do drugs at all. Why the hell would anybody in their right mind risk their bodies for a momentary high? It makes absolutely no sense. On the other hand, there are people who are just hardcore like that. For example, just yesterday, a nearby college fb player got busted for owning a drug house with his roommate. Apparently, he did coke, pot, along with a variety of prescription pain killers and such. He was the school’s all time leader in receiving yards. Hawks anybody? But yea, drugs are badd…

ISUClub, of the three drugs you listed ecstasy is definitely the worst (for you), coke is pretty tame in comparison… despite common belief

That’s what I’ve heard/read but I still would be incredibly hesitant to try coke to say the least.

20 - Khat
19 - Poppers
18 - Ecstasy
17 - GHB
16 - Anabolic Steroids
15 - Methylphenitdate (ADHD treatment)
14 - LSD
13 - 4MTA (manmade alternative to E, sort of like mephedrone)
12 - Solvents
11 - Cannabis
10 - Buprenorphine (Class C opiate)
9 - Tobacco
8 - Speed
7 - Benzodiazepene (Valium etc)
6 - Ketamine
5 - Alcohol
4 - Street Methadone
3 - Barbiturates
2 - Crack/Cocaine
1 - Heroin

The list compiled is from a UK study that analysed the relative effects of drugs; 1 being the most harmful and 20 being the list.

The whole drug classification system is messed up, particularly in the UK.

I tried coke once and I regret it quite a lot… stupid thing to do. Ecstacy is commonly thought of as really harmful, but it’s only 18 on the list. I found that very surprising, and cannabis is higher than I though it would be.

If anyone’s interested the scientists took into account the harm to the individual taking the drug, the harm to society and the addictiveness of the drug.

how the **** is weed more harmful than steroids?

edit: nvm didn’t see the “harm to society” bit. Although I’m pretty sure more roid ragers have killed people than stoners.

Weed is harmful society because of the drug crime surrounding it. That of course has nothing to do with the actual drug causing harm in society, but the fact that it’s illegal that is causing the harm.

Also, how is LSD on that list? I don’t really see what harm it can cause.

LSD is not more harmful than E.

I like being drunk and high at the same time. I generally smoke at the beginning of the night, before I even pregame, and then get really drunk. When I smoke at parties I smoke less, usually towards the end of the night, and I just get really insanely happy. ****ed up, yes, but it’s the best feeling :)

I haven’t really done many other drugs, but like if you were rolling and went to a party I think people might look at you weird. Generally people save E for like concerts or if they were going to a club. But there aren’t a lot of clubs around here so maybe that explains it.

Some people take acid or mushrooms and go to parties, but that’s really rare, for the same reasons I mentioned above. I guess it’s just the culture. Also if you get the right kind of weed you can get really energetic and want to go out and do things.

yea, there seem to be some differences between Uk and US when it comes to drugs… that’s cool though, I like my weed.

Contrary to popular belief, coke isn’t too bad for you.
Cocaine’s effects are very sort term, with negative long term consequences being very, very rare. Short term, now that can get you in trouble. Cocaine is a vasoconstrictor, which means it narrows your blood vessels, and increases your blood pressure. This increase can cause an aneurysm, stroke, and heart failure, but even this is very rare, especially in adolescents.
Ecstasy on the other hand, has more harmful long term effects. Ecstasy is basically MDMA cut with something else (usually meth or someother amphetamine). The MDMA causes serotonin levels to surge, while high. This surge can causes permanent damage to serotonin receptors. The damage can cause permenant lose of congitive function, mainly memory. This, however, is almost never seen in first time users. It takes some level of abuse to cause ‘visible’ damage. The short term effects of ecstasy are very limited. Dehydration and hypothermia are the only two things to be worried about, and you can counteract by not being a dumbass.
The more you now!!!
