omgah enough this is ridiculous. hollister/ae/AF/Aero are teeny bopper brands. They are overpriced and are all terrible quality!!! If you are going to spend $80 on a pair of jeans at A&F you might as well upgrade to banana republic or nordstroms. what ever happened to originality? I’m sorry but the last thing I want to be is a walking bill-board. If you just put a little effort you are sure to get good results. The next time you go shopping just ask yourself one question. If I buy this shirt will there be a thousand other 17 year old kids across the country who own it? If the answer is yes then put it down and walk awayyyyyy

The next best thing would be to avoid malls altogether (for tees, at least). There are some really good websites out there with unique stuff. But, now the word is out and that won’t be so unique now. :0(

Thrift stores are amazing. If I wasn’t so put off by the smell, I’d get all of my clothes from there. Variety + economy, what more could you ask for?

But other than that, I second ns89. H&M, Zara, AA, UO actually have STYLE.

I can’t afford that stuff. Wal-Mart all the way!

H&M is cheap and I feel like the clothes fall apart/shrink too quickly so it’s not worth it. American Apparel seems to be filled with skinny jeans, plain T’s in every color and sparkly leggings?

I like Zara, Banana Republic, the Gap, Express, the Limited, Esprit, Guess, Free People (too expensive for me too shop there often), Anthropologie (overpriced as well). I do have some American Eagle stuff I still wear, the regular clothes though, not the shirts that say the brand on them.

Does anyone buy designer jeans here? I think they’re not worth it, but I have 2 pairs of Lucky’s which I love so much. Lucky Jeans are usually under $120, I get them on sale for like $90…I think it’s worth it, they fit well and last for a long time. I don’t understand people who wear $200 jeans.

I like the stuff that H&M have but I do agree that it’s pretty cheap. Most of the items that I wear a long time from there are accessories.

I don’t like it when people are decked out in AA, they just seem way too hipster to me but if you have some subtle pieces from there mixed into your outfit it usually works.

In Vancouver, we have Aritzia which every girl over the age of 10 shops at. I used to love it but if you bought something from there everybody you saw on the street would have it. Trust me, it’s way more annoying than AE/Hollister (although people who shop there do also shop at AE and Hollister.)

Well I will confess to having 2 expensive pieces of clothing (even tho I consider 50 dollar pants overpriced)…
An affliction shirt that was $70, and a pair of affliction pants that were $80

both times my brother got them for me tho

discoball, i agree, HM has a great selection of accessories, and they look great
yea i mean, i dont buy my ‘main’ clothes from there, just basic things sometimes, like if i need a plain white tshirt, i can get it there, or just a one colored cardigan or something :)

i think that people should buy whatever they like personally, i dont really care about the price(probably because of the swedish culture in which i was raised) as long as i like them i dont even ask my friends/parents opinions on what clothes i should buy, only if im really unsure… if i like it, then i like it, thats it… which has led to me buying a 3pack of white v-neck tshirts at ross for $10 to a pair of $700 dollar jeans from andrew mackenzie… its all whatever… get what u like, as long as it isnt like pink flowered leggings or something like that(at least if youre a guy… :P)

I love energie have you guys tried it? They have awesome t-shirts

most expensive articles of clothing in my possession:
T-Shirts: $40 Jordan T-Shirt
Polos: $72 Lacoste polo
Jeans: ~$60 Girbaud jeans (with the colored straps on em)
Shoes: $100 Air Jordan 1s

seems like alot of people already beat those prices tho.

Oh my gosh, YES, the $200 jean thing.
I can NOT at all imagine buying jeans for $200, let alone $100.
The only piece of clothing I have close to $200 is my North Face, which I needed, and use every day. And that was only about $160.
But $200 jeans?!?!?! I can buy more than 10 decent shirts with that!
Or 2-4 good pairs of shoes! Or food for 2-4 weeks!
Or I could buy 4 pairs of my decent jeans from Macys!
$200 for jeans is beyond ridiculous. But a lot of people have them… it’s so weird.

Wal-mart is where it’s at.

Personally I’m an avid targeteer.
Most expensive thing I’ve ever purchased was a $425 gown I wore for a pageant all of about once… most expensive thing I’ve bought that I wear on a normal daily basis was a jacket for $225… so worth it though.

I don’t really wear anything with advertising except obey and rvca t-shirts.

holister and abercrombie is garbage. people who wear it look like jokes. zara and h&m is crappy quality. Some stuff from banana republic is nice, but some of it is way too old looking. The rest of the stuff that I wear is just random unrecognizable brands from the stores I go to.

my personal hell is filled with people who wear sweatpants outside of their homes

^ I don’t understand that at all…I understand some people like to look more dressy, and obviously sweats aren’t appropriate in certain settings, but sweatpants are SO comfy.

I’m guessing that you’re not a girl. Sure, jeans are really comfy, but girls jeans are tight and sometimes when we’re feeling all bloaty and crampy and don’t want to get out of bed, throwing on yoga pants feels so much better. And it’s not like they look ugly - you don’t think she looks good? http://images.teamsugar.com/files/upl1/1/12981/26_2008/pant.jpg

Is this a joke? 8 freakin’ pages on clothes!?

But if we must talk clothing, I say just make sure you don’t go to school with the same clothes you wore at that party last night. Yup, the outfit that smells like vodka and hookers. You’ll probably give people a bad impression…

well to those ppl who think buying a $200 pair of jeans is ‘beyond ridiculous’… keep in mind that people are different, and so are economic situations… before i came to the us, i had maybe 5 or 6 pairs of jeans, and not a single pair under $200 dollars… and for me, i think buying a pair of jeans for $50 dollars is ridiculous(in fact, in sweden, its hard to find a pair that cheap)… hel.l if im gonna wear it all day, i wanna like it and feel good in it… + those kinds of sums are not a problem for me so i dont really care… if you think its ridiculous, then thats too bad…

great well you might as well walk around shoveling ice cream in your mouth and peeing your pants because using the bathroom is too much effort.

“he who would trade dressing like a grownup for some temporary comfort, deserves neither”

Ok then…keep walking around in your 3-piece suit while I sit here nice and comfy. You sound like a child who plays dress-up in daddy’s closet and thinks he’s a big man for wearing some nice pants.
