I was surprised by the bottom two but not surprised by who they chose to save between them.
Oh wow. I had a bad feeling about tonight so watched the new season of When Calls the Heart instead. Looks like I made the right decision. I’m so disappointed.
I am delighted for my personal favorite of those left.
Not a fan of Lacey as much as others, her style can get dull because it is too repetitive. I don’t get Wade, interesting but only for so long. I think they saw Jeremiah as more of a Broadway/Musical Theater guy than pop idol. Madison has always been my favorite - her talent keeps showing more and more, but what has always been with her is that sparkle and incredibly sweet/humble personality. I like when I like the person, that adds a lot to their talent to me. She is like a young Kelly Clarkson (I think someone mentioned this early on), I think she has the most versatility and growth potential to have a longer upside in the business.
Confused, concerned, and disappointed:
Confused as to why everyone in the Show Stopper round was asked to sing a big cover song. Everyone except Alejandro, who got to sing an original song. Is he talented? If it were solely based on his unique but limited guitar style, than yes. But his thin, breathy rangeless voice makes him undeserving of going this far, imo.
Concerned that TPTB at ABC have manipulated the results… beginning from night 1 and LAINE’S impromptu audition. Continuing the Katy crush. Creating the makeover. And then on Monday night: his name lit up, the coaches on their feet and dancing throughout this performance. If this isn’t election interference, than I don’t know what is. I want the swampy kid from Louisiana back but that isn’t the type of artist that ABC apparently wants to win this season.
Disappointed that Jeremiah is not in the final. I wonder if his father somehow hurt his son’s chances when he said last week that his son was the best in the field?
I agree with you on the confused part. I actually like Alejando’s original song. For once I felt like I could actually hear him singing, but it did not fit the genre at all. Not sure why he was exempt from the category. Obviously he doesn’t have a belting voice but other singers in the past have taken a big cover song and made it fit their voice.
I feel like this season is all about big production numbers and not about the singing. Some of them have great voices but there is always such a big band and back up singers and so many distractions on stage that it’s hard to hear them or really focus on their performances. I wish they would strip it down like the old Idol.
Laine is okay but I feel like all of his performances are identical. None of them have been memorable. Unfortunately, I think Jeremiah went too Broadway last night and that definitely hurt him. Lacey was just way too made up last night and I thought her second song was terrible, she sounded so nervous. I think they wanted a second girl in the top 5 so they picked her. Madison is amazing and probably the most marketable. Wade’s first song was great but didn’t like the second one at all. His growl just wears on me after awhile.
Also Katy is driving me nuts this season. Everything is about her. Please stop yelling, and falling down, and running on stage. Just do your job and critique the contestants. I would love to hear the judges say something constructive like you picked the wrong song or I hated the arrangement. Not to be mean but just to be honest once in awhile. Sometimes I really miss Simon!
America’s Got Talent starts 5/28.
I came back to AI this year after skipping the last several seasons; was hoping that it was coming back as an improved version. But alas, no. The contestants are meh, the numbers are way over-produced, Katy is too extra and the judges don’t provide good critical commentary (yes I miss Simon too!). I’m tired of all the gushing for every performance and I do believe the results are manipulated to ensure strong viewership in the final weeks. Laci was saved last night because they needed another female contestant to play against Madison. I have no idea why the producers are pushing Laine so hard but it’s obvious they want him there.
I wanted to see Jeremiah go to the finals and thought for sure he would, but he has not shined the past two weeks. Seems like his heart is not really into it anymore. I did not like the way they focused on his parents when they were in the audience, it all seemed a bit uncomfortable and I wonder if the pushing of the family situation as a storyline has taken a toll on Jeremiah’s enthusiasm at this point. He has the best voice and vocal control but his song choices and performances last night were not captivating.
Sayonara AI, I won’t be back next season…
Yeah, the over produced numbers are my biggest disappointment.
I thought the sound mix was off last night. It has been so far, but last night the background singers and band were way too loud.
Missed Jeremiah tonight.
I am really getting bored with pretty much everyone. Now that Jeremiah is gone I am hoping Laci wins but, she too, is not very exciting at the moment.
Personally I’m yawning with Laine and Laci both. Both mostly just stand there and sing, and while I appreciate the vocals, not sure that’s America’s definition of “idol”.
Not feeling it for Madison, but I think with the right handler(s) she could go far.
I’m still a huge fan of Alejandro, and what he did on the piano this week was award worthy. It was something we have never heard before outside of the freestyle jazz world. Did you watch his hands? He is an amazing talent, and I have zero doubt will have a long career.
I love what Alejandro can do both on the piano and guitar. I just wish he were a little more dynamic vocally.
No doubt Alejandro is talented but I swear all his songs sound the same.
What a dream for Demetrius to get to sing with Adam Lambert! Demetrius is really good but his personality is lacking.
Shay sounded amazing! She should have made the top 20. One of the best performances of the season.
Demetrius and Adam sounded great together and Adam just seems like such a great, supportive guy. Walker sounded really good with Weezer but I couldn’t even hear Wade singing at all. I don’t think that was a good matchup for him. I also didn’t think Lacey sounded very good, although I’ve never really been a fan. Jeremiah’s and Katy’s performance was really good.
I honestly don’t really care who wins at this point as I think out of the top 3 Madison had the best vocals.
They are dragging it out tonight. It was funny to hear Ryan mention a tribute to it being the 35th anniversary of Lionel Ritchie’s #1 hit— they pan to Lionel and you see him looking totally shocked, and saying “WHAAAT???”
Well, disappointed, but Adam Lambert was the runner up too and he’s done well. Best of luck to #2, Alejandro.
Laine, Laine, Laine…not a very good performer, but cute to the teeny boppers who go for that.
I actually think Alejandro is the real deal.
There are many (many runners up that made it farther than season winners.
