Anyone else watching? I’m 1/2 way through last night’s episode - so far I’m in agreement with who is in the top 24 - so far.

Yeah I’m watching. I gotta say, the editing just sucks.
In this day and age, I really wish they’d post full performances online. These 30 second snippets with voiceover aren’t helping connect with the contestants.
We saw 16 contestants last night, with 2 of them being a cliffhanger. Which means tonight there are 29 contestants, which likely indicates that about 15 we won’t see at all except through an “also eliminated were…” montage

Totally agree, I really like a lot of the contestants this year and enjoyed the last 2 rounds, but last night’s show was pretty bad from a production standpoint.

Anyone else notice that they only showed 25 of the top 26? I’m guessing a cut contestant will be returning.
So frustrating that American Idol and The Voice were aired simultaneously. Kept flipping channels (though the Voice last night was a bit of a “review”).

I thought Iam (the young guy from Hawaii) was #24, and the 2 young guys that were in the hot seat were then #25 & #26…no?
Correct. That was how it was announced. But if you count how many were actually shown as going through on the last 2:episodes, there were only 25. My guess is someone dropped out and were edited out of the showstopper episode. My guess is the first contestant that they said no to last night (being vague for those who have not seen) will be added.
Last night was another train wreck of a production. I think it was a travesty that they didn’t show some of the best performances in full, especially Iam’s. How can he take us on a show-stopping emotional journey if they keep cutting into the song??! And I hate how much emphasis they put on making us - and the contestants - think someone good is going to be cut. They so wanted us to think Iam was going to go, that his song choice was too risky, that he somehow faltered. Clearly they saved him for the end of the show, and then they didn’t do his performance justice. A disappointing week all around, but I am looking forward to hearing many of these contestants in full next week!

There are so many interesting voices this year.
But my favorite (and DH’s) is the young black woman who talks like Minnie but then unleashes this just stellar, sensationally astounding powerful voice. She has such a presence and we adore her.
I need to look up her name. She is simply captivating.

I called her as the winner on the day of her audition - she’s incredible! I’ve got my $ on her!
Being the 26th contestant that was not shown and probably dropped out. Their hypothesis on his replacement matches what I posted earlier

Not necessary- I just remember he would always participate in threads related to the music shows.
ETA - I have watched The Voice, but don’t know that I’ve ever watched American Idol.
