American Idol 2020 and Beyond

Well, I wasted 60 seconds of my life and read about the “controversy” regarding Nutsa. Apparently she is an international performer, from Georgia and performs in Dubai, so no particular domestic fans. Okay, big deal? Also, it looks like there is the AI manufactured controversy from Hollywood week, where they showed her partner complaining that Nutsa went to sleep in the middle of the night when she went to practice. I remember that, and it seemed like the partner was a whiner who couldn’t remember the words to her song, couldn’t get her own act together, and didn’t make it through. Nutsa didn’t say anything negative about her or even defend herself, which I found classy, she just kept silent. Don’t remember anything else about her, though. It is irritating how AI focuses on and exacerbates these controversies or stories, just to make it more dramatic. Seems unfair to the competitors, depending upon how they want to portray them.

I thought it was a smudge from her lipstick after she pressed the microphone to her lips too close.

Personally, I didn’t notice. Then again, I don’t see too well if I don’t put on my glasses (which can sometimes be a good thing).

Megan (Daniel - ?) is not flashy but is a real country talent. Just wow.

ETA / sorry, meant to respond to the thread! Not to your post. Oops. Apologies.

Iam is the next Iz. :sunglasses: Best performance of the night. He is the real deal.

Oh, I’m so offended.

I am waiting a few days to watch this episode, but I agree about Iam, he is the real deal. And so young, too, it’s crazy!

Oh completely!!! And it does work, many of us just love to root for the underdog. So a struggling single mom trying to provide a better life for her child tugs at our hearts and we root for them. I can’t think of one specific time where their “story” leading up to their performance was “My life is awesome, we don’t struggle, I was raised by 2 parents, I had a lot of money, I took singing lessons since I was 12 months old because we could afford it etc…”

Hard to tell

On our big screen TV it did look like a lipstick smudge (also, her lower lip has smeared lipstick). I’d think a zit or a blemish would have been concealed really well by her makeup team.

ETA: this says it was lipstick on her chin.

Not that it impacted his career at all, but last night was yet another indication that Adam should have won his season.

Kris who???

If I was voting, it’s likely I would have voted for Kris over Adam. Adam was sometimes too screechy, too over the top and was obviously favored by the judges. Kris was much more low key, not a showboat and sang music that I liked. I think there are a number of AI winners that we haven’t heard much from over the years.

No reason to doubt them, but the thing on her chin doesn’t seem to be the same color as her lipstick :woman_shrugging:
Tonight I’ll have to play dueling channels again with both song shows on.

Not agreeing with the votes tonight

That’s Haven’s story in a nutshell.

Still banking on We Ani to bring it home!

Can’t believe Walter got through after butchering Colder Weather, a song that makes me cry every time. I just listened again to see whether I was wrong. No, this rendition is making me cry for all the wrong reasons.

Also, Zachariah has peaked and on the downward slide. Ready for him to go.

But I think that even though there are two parents and lots of support, Haven shared that her brother had suicide attempt a few years ago and she and parents were continuously afraid that he would try again and be successful. She talked about parents taking turns at night keeping an eye on him, etc.

The brother is reportedly doing better now but clearly the family was impacted.

They don’t suffer financially and have an intact family but emotional scars are still there for them.

I actually really like her. She is young but her voice is amazing.

I feel like Haven is the most marketable of the bunch. Not the best singer in the group but I think she has the rest of the package. Ian is good but I don’t envision him ever being able to fill a stadium. We’ was great last night but I still feel like I have no idea what type of an artist she would be. I think Colin would probably be marketable as well but he reminds me too much of Noah.

And we ani’s too. Her mom is a real estate broker and dad is a doctoral level education administrator. Active in music, dance and theater since she was young. American Idol: Wé Ani Age - How Old Is She? Ethnicity Parent
