I didn’t understand completely–is tonight the final vote? So we go from top 7 to winner?
I predict the winner will be a guy. Pretty easy guess since I think the only two girls left were mediocre tonight.
My favorites are Dillon and Jonny. Francisco and Arthur had good nights, too. Never been a fan of Louis.
The Mother’s Day tributes made me cry.
They said the other day that this season was truncated because, I believe it was tha the baseball season was supposed to be in full swing (pun intended) so they’d already planned it this way. I think there are 2 shows left this season.
I think they’re going down to 4 next week, for the finale.
My favorites tonight were Jonny West and Francisco. Just Sam didn’t wow me tonight, but I think she’ll make it through. People love her.
I was also confused about the plan, but just read that the top five will sing next Sunday, and real-time voting will determine the winner by the end of the show. Seems odd they didn’t explain the plan? I might watch the live show instead of waiting to fast-forward through commercials.
^Midwest mom9, thanks. That is also the way I understand the Finals to be, with 5 competing next week for the ‘crown’.
Why not just have it go on longer since there is nothing else on TV to watch? I feel really bad for these kids that made it this season, it’s so abbreviated and they get none of the real world experience they would get on the show. It’s like singing on YouTube with more followers.
I thought Julia was really mediocre last night, esp in her first song, which was a bummer as she was so good last week. Just Sam also was not great. My favorite was Dillon. I also thought Francisco was good. I liked Johnny’s first song but wasn’t sure about his take on “Amazing Grace”. Wonder if him & Margie broke up?

Agree about dragging it out. I’d watch it.
Agree also on feeling bad for the contestants this season. Some would definitely have done better on stage, with a live audience. Different dynamic, for sure.
Agree on Julia. After her first song, my H commented, “That was a mess.” Her second was better.
I loved Johnny’s “Amazing Grace”. I thought it was the best performance of the night. I got the impression that he had been living with Margie, but went home for Mother’s Day. She may have even come with him. When they showed him surprising his mom at the front door, he said to his mom, “Did you notice that she’s filming you?” And mom said, “Oh, no I didn’t.” So, I thought it was Margie recording it. But then she didn’t seem to be there for the live part last night.
I agree… 110%. Brought tears to my eyes. Jonny is a really gifted musician and songwriter, with incredible musical instincts. I really do feel he deserves the win after that rendition that he wrote the 2nd verse on and sang so brilliantly.
I was totally distracted by the one-year-old I was babysitting during the show, but I am pleased with the winner. Looking forward to next season!
I was also happy for Just Sam. I thought they all sang well tonight, and I really loved “We are the world”. It was a strange season, and although I would have watched if the season had been longer, I can sort of see the decision to wrap it up. Not quite the same as usual seasons.
Arthur Gunn and Jonny West were my favorites and I hope that being in the final 7 helps their careers.
I liked Dillon’s song choices… just not for him. Not the time to get out of your Country lane, IMO.

I finally watched the finale last night. I am over the moon for Just Sam! Of course whether she placed in the top or not, her career would blossom. I adored her from the moment she stepped foot into the audition. I would like to treat her to supper and just chat. She seems so down to earth and lovely.
I’m happy for all of them. And I feel like the entire group was a bit shortchanged in the way the season went, but of course that’s real life!
Was anything ever discussed with Jonny about his girlfriend (Margie?)? She was there (all the flipping time) and then poof! Gone.

Just Sam seems like a sweet person with a cool personality and a nice voice. But I don’t really see a star career in her future (like most idol winners).
My prediction is the biggest career comes from Arthur Gunn who could be a great front man for a rock band.
I think I saw Margie holding a sign when they showed the montage of Jonny’s fans. Not sure why they suddenly wrote her out of the script and added in Thunderstorm’s wife!
I wonder if the producers somehow thought Margie might have been more of a ‘liability’ if they continued giving her so much screen time? Maybe they wanted Jonny to appear more independent?
I’m really happy for Just Sam. ANY level of success will be a major upgrade for her!
