Is this legit? It doesn't look shady or anything, but rather be safe than sorry.

I want to know the same thing. It popped up as a sponsored link on my gmail. I don't think I like that gmail "reads" my emails, so I doubt I'll respond. If you find something out, please post.

I think it looks.... odd.

Every person interested in winning the scholarship who visits the website is required to enter personally identifiable information, which includes name, address, telephone number, GPA, last education level completed, type of degree sought, etc., etc.,
etc., etc.,?! That's actually on their eligibility page!

I'd be cautious.

There's also this, emphasis mine:

If you are judged the winner, you could receive $5,000.00 which you may use to help pay for tuition for a college education.
"could" receive. Not "will," but "could." Does that strike anyone else as weird?

Thank you, Owlice! I shall heed your warnings and ignore it. There are other fish in the financial sea.

Did you read the privacy policy? Basically, it says "we'll collect your information to use for marketing purposes and sell it/distribute it/share it with whomever we please for whatever reason, and we'll try to collect information about you from other sources and add it to the information we collected from you. If you don't want to participate in any of this, you can unsubscribe, but that means you're not eligible for any scholarship money you could get if you're our scholarship winner, and that assumes we actually delete your records from our files."

Maybe all privacy policies are like this; I should start reading them, I suppose.

Emphasis mine.

I read the privacy policy and was weirded out by the WE GIVE YOU SPAM AND JUNK MAIL AND STALK YOU :DDDD message, but I didn't know if that was the norm for other scholarships since I never read their privacy policies.

I believe that this is a scam. No phone number listed for the organization, no searchable phone number on record for American Liberty Scholarship or Graduate Achievement foundation. The address listed is not linked to either business name. I could nit find a registration with the Better Business Bureau. I would avoid this one. It is probably a scam to collect information for calling/mailing lists for disreputable schools.

Or it might be run by a serial killer who wants your address and phone number. Seriously, the information that they’re asking could be used by anyone to come into your house at night and beat you a death with a cheese grater.

NOTE TO LIBEL ATTORNEYS: I’m not saying that you will be killed by a serial murderer if you sign up for this scholarship; I’m just reminding everyone that it would make it very easy.
