American Military University/APU

If I wanted to get into a good graduate program in something like International relations, would the grad admissions look down on an online degree from AMU or APU? Would it really hurt my chances as opposed to a traditional undergrad degree?

I’m Robert Garrison a Student Ambassador at the American Public University System (APUS)We are nationally accredited by the Distance Education and Technical Council (DETC) in Washington D.C. (which is affiliated with the Department of Education) We currently serve over 50,000 students. Undergraduate courses are $750 apiece ($250 per credit hour) and graduate courses are $900 apiece ($300 per credit hour) most of the classes are 3 credits apiece and courses run for 8 weeks each. We offer over 70 programs (undergraduate & graduate degrees) The professors are great! Most quizzes and tests are open-book. You DON’T have to be in the armed forces to apply, anybody can apply. We DON’T require the SAT or any other aptitude tests. If you’ve gone to other colleges, we can transfer your credits. Many of the students and professors are current or retired military personnel. We accept federal financial aid (the funds given when you fill out a FASFA form) We also use GoArmyED for military personnel. If you’re an undergraduate (getting an AA or B.A. degree) you don’t have to pay a penny out of pocket for your textbooks! They are paid for by a Book Grant (voucher) and if you complete your courses, you can keep the textbooks. The only reason you would have to send your books back is if you dropped/withdrew from a course before completing it or if you wanted to take advantage of the Buyback program. I’m disabled and study from home (classes are 100% ONLINE) and APUS has been a God-send for me! I hope you discover that AMU is the right school for you as well. I’m in my senior year of my undergraduate (B.A. degree) in political science and I LOVE APUS! I can’t say enough good things about it!! Yes, I would say that APUS would take you a long way. At least two graduates that I know of have worked in the White House!
Please go to: [Why</a> AMU?](<a href=“http://www.amu.apus.edu/why-amu/]Why”>At a Glance | American Military University (AMU)) for more answers to your questions. If there are any other questions I can help you with, please do not hesitate to send me an email at <a href="mailto:rdgrrsn@hotmail.com">rdgrrsn@hotmail.com</a><a href=“please%20put%20AMU%20in%20the%20subject%20line%20so%20that%20I%20don’t%20mistake%20you%20for%20a%20spammer”>/email</a>

Thank-you.

Sincerely,

Hi Andy,

Ultimately what matters when applying to graduate programs is your course of study in your undergrad (is it relevant to what you want to go to grad school for?), your performance (how were your grades?), and your overall application.

A degree from AMU or APU shouldn’t be regarded any differently than one from a traditional brick and mortar institution. Both AMU and APU are accredited, so that shouldn’t be a problem.

AMU and APU students are very active on Facebook, if you’d like to get their takes on your situation. There are also many graduates/alumni in these groups that can talk to you about applying to graduate programs and getting jobs.

APU: [American</a> Public University | Facebook](<a href=“Facebook”>American Public University)

Best of luck,
