Can not quebec high school students be pre meds. Can they talk all the necessary and required courses for medical school. Are there MCATS offered somewhere in montreal. Is it common for no quebec students to be pre meds and subsequently apply to medical school after college.

i personally don't understand what the infatuation with getting into premed is. If you do any biological science course you will have more than enough of a good understanding to get into Med school. Pre med is a fast track process only cegep students can enroll in (see earlier posts) and is very very competitive. The med school process in canada is actually in many peoples opinion, harder to get into than in the states due to limited seats and lots of competition.

Also as far as I know, the MCAT is offered in Canada but test sites change. Just check the official mcat website.

Do McGill students get accepted into American medical schools. Are there mcgill students who plan on going to american med schools

ofcourse mcgill students get into us med schools, or else a lot of us students studying here to get into med school would not otherwise. I know a lot of people including some of my TA's from last semester who got into US med schools including Columbia, Cornell and Johns Hopkins. A lot of professors, if you look into your prospectus did their BSc in McGill and MD in a US med school.

I personally plan on going to a US med school as well and US schools don't differentiate between McGill and any other school in canada because as I said in an earlier post, the university you do your undergrad in does not matter too much to a med school advisor, your GPA definately does. Also if your american, they you have the same chance as any student in the states.

did you go to high school in quebec or the rest of canada/america. What did you major in while you did pre med?

i'm not doing a premed because i didn't do cegep. I did the british a levels as I was living abroad in the middle east (but i'm canadian). My major is anatomy and cell biology which is in the biological sciences.

But you were able to take all the required pre med courses that didnt fall into your major such as organic chem, calc, physics so on... and you were able to take MCATs too. Are there alot of people at Mcgill going on to med schools who were not quebec high schoolers

well i did all my required pre med courses except a chem course in high school as A levels are similar to the IB and AP where you get credits for courses you do cos they're harder. I did maths, physics chem and bio in high school so i got credited for them. As for MCAT...I haven't done that yet...you can do that any time before you graduate. you need to read the other posts in this forum for your questions to be answered.
