any advice on the major? what are profs palmer and brilliant like? not such great reviews, any info on exams and workload?

Really easy major, actually one of the easiest on the campus.

I am an American Studies major and I love it. It is so flexible and you can really study what you want. While it is true that it is a fairly easy major I hate its reputation because it is really as easy or hard as you make it.

Prof Brilliant is GREAT. I really loved him when I had him for AS10. I’ve never had a class with Palmer (though probably will next semester) but I met with her as an adviser and thought she was harsh but helpful.

Brilliant’s exams were very straight forward. Identifications and Essays, with the IDs coming from a study guide. Workload not too bad. Plenty of reading but do-able and easy to skip and still do pretty well. If you are on top of things you will do well. (in my experience).

That’s the one thing that I like about the American Studies major, you can study whatever interests you. I was going to declare the major, but instead did History.
