American Studies?

So I'm on a few waitlists and I want to add some classes to my schedule so I'll have full-time student standing. Plus, as an Asian American, I have an itch to learn some info about my heritage, Asian, or American at a different perspective than what's taught in history classes.

Keep in mind I'm not just looking for a course to waste time, I want to learn a bit too.

I'm currently debating between:

AMS 315 INTRO TO ASIAN AMER STUDIES
or
AMS 311S US CULTURE AND GLOBALIZATION
or
AAS 310 DIASPORA: RACE/NATION/RESISTNC

Idk how I feel about the latter class, I don't consider myself a part of a diaspora at a school that's 20% Asian-American. But regardless, if anyone's taken these classes or would like to provide their personal (more knowledgeable) insight on how these classes are at UT Austin, I would greatly appreciate it.

You can find students’ comments on the course load, homework, exams etc at any of the following:

ratemyprof, myedu or https://diia.webhost.utexas.edu/cis/results/

Do any of these fulfill the U.S. history requirement (if you still need to fulfill that?)

To answer your quesion, MidwestMom: Nope, they don’t count for the required US History credit
