American transfer student for McGill University chances?

I'm an American university student hoping to transfer to McGill in the Fall/Winter 2013. Here are my stats:

major: on my application it says undeclared for b. of arts, but my major is linguistics and I remember writing that out on the application
gpa: 3.48

I also got a 4 on the AP Japanese exam and a 3 on the AP Psychology, though I didn't add the latter on my application, though it's seen as transfer credits for psych 201 and 202 at my school. If I transfer in the fall 2013, I'll be a 3rd year student at that time, if that means anything.

Also, I was told as a transfer student, I didn't need to put my SAT or ACT scores on my application, so I didn't put that there.

While my GPA isn't too high, it fits into the requirements of arts. I don't know if they look into specific classes according to your major or just your accumulative GPA, but I've taken linguistics and two language classes (Chinese and Russian) throughout college so far and also have Japanese transfer credits.

I'm just honestly not sure whether or not I have a chance and when I'm going to find out the decision. If anyone has any ideas on dates for decisions for transfer students outside of Canada, let me know! And if you have been in a similar situation as me, let me know your stats and whether you got accepted/rejected.

You have a shot at getting in as a transfer student although I hope you can pay the cost (unless cost is what made you transfer in the first place) since McGill offers little, if any, financial aid.

The website says 3.3-3.5 for transfer but the safety line for transfer is 3.5 so I’d say low match.

I don’t qualify for financial aid anyway, so it’s okay. And it’s one of the reasons actually haha going to McGill as an international student is still cheaper than in-state for the other school I’m considering.

I had a 3.500 until this semester! I got 4 As, 1 B, and 1 C (stupid biology…) which affected it so much.

I hope they noticed that it’s only the science class I’ve done poorly in but that the rest of my grades are pretty fair.

Thanks though! It’s good to know I have at least so hope to hold onto.

McGill costs $17k yearly before room and board (you want to get into Linguistics and thus you will be billed as an Arts student if admitted and attending) so what university would charge more than $17k yearly before room and board to Linguistics in-staters?

Maybe low match was too good a verdict; I saw some 3.9s waitlisted, but perhaps you should have some results by now… However, perhaps that Arts transfer applicant didn’t aim for linguistics.
