Having gone through this a year ago with my DD, I can tell you that everyone is accepted into the university as a whole, not into a specific school. If you applied with SIS as your intended school then that is what you should have on record. That said, you should drop your admissions rep a email to confirm so that your paperwork is all consistent. Your letter is a invitation to join UC, which usually means a short application and a essay. Some of the UC seminars fill up but if you apply early you should have no problem getting in. My daughter is really enjoying UC and I haven’t heard that any of her friends feel otherwise. I think there are a lot of pluses to the program both academic and social.

I’m Daniel from Metropolitan Detroit/Southeastern Michigan and will be joining the Class of 2018 at American University in Washington, D.C. this fall 2014!
I enjoy being involved in politics (both student government/civic activism) and hope to continue my interest in our nation’s capital. At AU, I wish to study within the School of Public Affairs (SPA) and attain a degree in Law and Society (BA) & Public Administration and Policy (Minor).
I’m super excited for what’s to come and can’t wait to meet my fellow Eagles!

My D also received an "invitation to join the University College. I’m not sure if everyone is invited to join and is then asked to complete an essay to “reserve” a space and to assist them in placing students into the different UCs. Can anyone clarify?

I’m also wondering when merit scholarships are awarded. Did anyone receive a merit scholarship with their ED admissions packets or are the scholarships awarded later?

does anyone is tere a way to check ur financial aid online?

@heycall123 - Sign into your myAU Portal and look on the right hand side. Click “Finances” and play around with the options like “Financial Aid: Accept My Award Package” or something similar. You might be able to also check on “Eagle Finance” under the same tab (but it might be different for you as an incoming freshman).

You should have received financial aid info. in your acceptance packet. But if all else fails call AU Central at 202-885-8000.

@Espiculeas that’s so cool! Do you know around where you’re staying?
