I was soo surprised when i checked my email yesterday and found that i was accepted! Good Luck to everyone, and congrats to those who got accepted! :D

Envelope came via USPS for sonny. He was emailed acceptance notice 3/10/10 and notified in today’s mail that he is in the AU Honors Program with the American Excellence Scholarship in the amount of $29,000 annually.

Sorry, I was in midst of something else and just posted a short post.

USPS envelope was postmarked 3/10/10.

Sonny is National Merit Commended, AP Scholar with Distinction, GPA = 97.2, 4.4 Weighed from very competitive Public HS; SAT I = 2090, SAT II - US Hx = 750; World Hx = 780; ACT = 32; tons of ECs, including Senior Class President, co-Founder and co-Director of IRS Tax Exempt Non-Profit Organization, School TV News Director; Honorable Mention, Broadcast Commentary (National Journalism Conference); Founder and Editor of Online Political Newsletter; nominated for Principal’s Student Leadership Award (results not known yet); Brandeis Book Award for Civic Engagement and Social Action; and many other services to community (President’s Volunteer Service Award, Gold Level), etc. He also received one of top Scholarship Awards for NYU (Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholar Award Program).

Acceptance packet received in NJ today also with Presidential Scholarship (27k per year) and Honors. American is daughters first choice (Journalism) so she is very happy. We have two daughters who are 2 and 4 years behind her so we have to weigh the costs carefully. She is NMS Commended in NJ which had one of the higher cutoffs so am hoping my company scholarship (also handled by NMS) will come through also.

2260/2400 SAT (800 R/730 M/730 W)
I don’t have all of her stats in my head, but she has always tested very well.
She has few EC, but very consistent.
AP Scholar w/Honors (5 more AP this year)
Class rank: 15/~600

We will probably go to one of the two accepted students events and then get serious about her decision.

I also got my letter today (the envelope is blue!) in Southern California after receiving an email two day ago, and was pleasantly surprised to be given a $20k/year Dean’s Scholarship.

Stats:
SAT 2210 (730 CR, 740 M, 740 W)
3.7 UW, 4.15 W
Lots of extracurriculars (politics) + year-long study abroad

American is not my first choice, but I am nonetheless SUPER excited about the scholarship offer. Being in DC is kind of tempting because of my interest in politics, so we’ll see!
