American University Early Decision 2011

First time I have a knot in my stomach. It’ll probably be next week.
All of my Gw and Penn ED found out, 2/3 there so thats good for them.

Freaking exciting though

I applied ED and am hoping to get in!

My friend got into so many other amazing schools and im starting to get super nervousss ahh!!! Hoping for the best for everyone in this crazy crazy time :)

ahhhhh, guys, I’m so nervous!! as soon as anyone is notified, let the rest of us know, please! GOOD LUCK, EVERYONE!!

Ahhh, I’m so anxious! It should hopefully be sometime next week! I’m crossing my fingers for all of you :)

I pretty sure that the decisions are mailed out on the 15th and that only some people get calls. When I called to the Office of admissions they said that they do not email this year. Also when we post our decisions can everyone post their financial package

Hey I’m from PA and I applied ED.
My intended major is International Studies, focusing on the Latin American region.
Many of my friends are receiving replies from their colleges - Columbia, PSU, etc. It is making me really nervous and anxious for a reply soon.
Thanks AUTransfer for the offer, to answer any questions, it must have been horrible doing this twice - I can barely wait this one time. :)

Hello,
Who did you have as your rep?
I am going to be out of town from the 23rd to the 2nd and I’m hoping to get a reply soon. If not hopefully by email or phone call. Do you know if they still use email in certain situations?

I’m from CT (go to boarding school in MA) and I applied ED to American too. It’s been my number one choice by a mile since I was in 7th grade. The past month or so has been, by far, the most stressful, nerve wracking month of my life. I’m hoping to go into the SIS.
AHHH!

I’m from Maryland. I applied ED way back in September of this year. I absolutely fell in love with the school over the summer during a trip to DC. Ever since December 1st, i’ve been rushing home looking for the mail to see if anything had arrived for me from the university.

I’m SO nervous!

I want to be in the pre-medical program…what does everyone else want to do?!

I hope to be double majoring in international relations with a concentration on middle eastern cultures and political science or anthropology

Hi everyone!

I was wondering when for sure American is going to contact everyone? I’ve been told the 31st and the 15th but I was wondering if anyone knows the exact date. Also if they do contact you through email, could it also be through your AU portal (for those who completed AUs application)?

on the AU admissions facebook it says:
“Early Decision applicants will be notified sometime between mid-December and Dec. 31, with the majority of decisions being released at those mid-December dates. All official admissions decisions are released by postal mail!”
and THEN it says:
“All official decisions are released by postal mail; some students may also be contacted by phone. Admissions decisions are not released by email or any online resource under the Early Decision admissions round.”

SO IT COULD BE AS SOON AS TOMORROW.

Honestly, I don’t think there is a ‘set’ date that everyone will know. Probably, everything will be mailed out tomorrow. But someone who applied in MD may know before someone who applied in CA simply because of postage times.

I wonder what determines if you get a phone call or not…

Yeah I’m going to call AU and ask them what determines if you get a phone call or not I’ll tell everyone what the admission office said, cause i really can’t wait for the weekend to receive a letter lol…

AU said that receiving a call is entirely up to the admissions officer and the standard applicant only receives the package!

ahh, im so nervous. i think i’m very borderline. i was reading that AU’s ED acceptance rate is 75%, though, so i’m holding onto hope haha. hopefully a big nice admissions packet will come into my mail soon…i would be beyond ecstatic.

I went on my overnight back on the 11th of November, and AU really emphasized that above everything else, they admit students who are passionate about the University.

I know in my case, my SAT scores were not as high as I wanted. But who knows, I’ve been to almost every visit, overnight, showcase, etc… lol.

Applied under the test optional, early decision policy! So last year did most early decision canidates find out around the 16th-18th in the mail? i am very nervous

Hi everyone,

I am just as nervous as all of you, of course. I can’t think about anything else! I was just accepted into Hofstra University yesterday. I can’t help but wonder if knowing I was accepted there (with scholarship money/yr.) then I can rest easier about my Early Decision to AU.

Good luck to everyone! I hope we all get accepted into American University’s Class of 2015!
