American University Early Decision 2011

@clcolson I think you meant “English” instead of “Electives.”

@th3m00s3–Oh yes, I think i’m VERY boarderline. My SAT scores weren’t very good…but I hope my essay made up for it. And the rigor of my senior year schedule is very challenging…

but who knows :)

AU1864: I just copied and pasted from college board. You are probably right :)

UPDATE: I just checked college board. It most definitely said 4 electives…? Haha who knows. I think it was probably because in the “required” section, there was already 4 credits of english needed.

Oh yeah that makes sense; I’ve seen those requirements everywhere. Sorry to cause confusion! I have gotten to the point where I get nervous when the phone rings…I’m praying to the AU gods as I type this!

The thing is, I’m so nervous to come home from school to see a tiny envelope on top of the TV with my name on it postmarked from AU. What even determines if we get a phone call?!

If you don’t mind, can everyone post their SAT scores? If you don’t want to, thats fine. But i’m super, super paranoid about how my SAT scores didn’t really make the mark (I had a 550 on the math, 540 on the reading and 530 on the writing)

@clcolson-- AU looks at your highest scores, so lets say you got a better score on your ACT instead of your SAT, they will only take into account the ACT

1830 and 1210 for just critical reading and math. I’m with ya on praying to the au gods. I’m in va so I’m expecting mine really really soon

I know I should have applied ED test optional. I get only a 1090 with the combined score yet I get straight A’s in all of my 4 AP classes?

I just don’t test well :frowning: is anyone in the same boat as me?!

@giulsAU–I didn’t get around to taking the ACT… :/

I’m worried about the small envelope too :(

A phone call is determined by each individual admissions regional counselor. So there’s no definite (but I don’t think it’s THAT common to be called).

SATs: w.670; cr.590; m.520

Dear AUGODS,

Please accepted us. Us being everyone here in this forum.

Thank you for listening
Sincerely,
Very Anxious American Univeristy Undergraduates (WE HOPE!)

Honestly, I think admissions will realize you’re not good at standardized testing if what you say is true! SATs are not considered the tipping point for an admission decision when the student proves themselves in other academic achievements.

I sure hope so :frowning: I think I did really well on my essay. Could you read it and tell me what you think?

I will read it if you really want me too but are you sure you want me to? It might make you more nervous…I mean it’s out of all of our hands now.

ehh…I don’t know. I’ll PM it to you. Just go easy on it, alright? It’s very personal.

Sure I will do my best  I can’t wait to read it!

I got a 29 on the ACT

I promise I will read it tomorrow… I can’t seem to stay awake! Sorry :frowning: I’m gonna go dream about the letter coming. Good luck everyone (just in case it arrives tomorrow)!!! May we all be fortunate to hold thick envelopes :)

Super good luck & fingers crossed!

CR: 670 M: 550 W: 550 , 1850

i feel like my essay and extra curriculars make up for my poor grades/sat score though. president of student government, editor in chief of newspaper, intern in the maryland general assembly. i also used the word “wonk” in my little personal statement, hopefully thatll help me out haha

I feel like we are brethren.

even if you didn’t take the ACT, I feel like standardized tests don’t mean too much…when I interviewed, the lady told me that interest in the school is a major factor as well as being involved/aware of social issues. Hope all of us will be holding a thick envelope by the end of this month!

The CLEG Program is Fantastic. Guys it could be within the next few days, it is real nerve racking. I am having so much trouble falling asleep.

What does everyone love about American? Like Specifics

Personally, its the feel of the quad. You can see the whole campus, all the buildings. The comfort of that makes me feel right at home. Also the real motivation of politics on campus is really awesome as well.
