American University Honors Program

What are my chances of getting in?
I go to a nationally ranked high school in the DC metro area, so AU does have connections with my school
Extremely rigorous curriculum including 5 AP credits (such as AP World), and I have taken honors in all other classes expect for physics, chemistry, and biology.
GPA: weighted: 3.4 unweighted: 2.93
SAT: (I'm retaking it) Currently I have Math: 600 Reading: 730
Foreign language skills: In school, I take French and Arabic. Outside of school, I take Mandarin and Farsi
I'm a member of NSHSS (National Society of High School Scholars)

In addition to my stats in high school, I have also taken (2) American University College courses over the summer (the first during the summer of 2013, and this past summer 2014)
The first summer I attended a program called the Community of Scholars hosted by AU and received an A and 3 college credits in a course that taught Diplomacy. The second summer I attended a program called the National Student Leadership Conference that was hosted at AU, and received an A and 2 college credits in a course that taught national security.

I plan to major in International Studies with minors in Chinese Studies and Leadership\Management, so I'm applying to their SIS (School of International Service)

AU did send me a letter in the mail inviting me to apply based on my "academic achievements", however, I have my doubts seeing that both my GPA and SAT scores are extremely low.

Hey, I’m in the new honors program this year and in SIS. The new honors program is great, really small with only 45 students. The acceptance rate last year for the honors program was 2.5%. My weighted GPA was a 3.9 and had 2100 SAT and 33 ACT. Hope this helps!

I don’t think you’ll qualify for Honors and you may not even qualify for SIS, although your language skills may trump the scores somewhat.
Au sent a letter as a marketing ploy. Apply if you wish, but don’t expect anything off it.
